Default Use Shell Gasoline!!!

I switched from chevron gas to shell about a month back and have noticed a big jump in mileage. I'm consistently up 2mpg's or more.

Vehicle info: 1998 GS400 (stock) with 134,000 miles.

Driving info: I commute 34 miles roundtrip daily. Half is city driving, half is highway (which I go about 80mph on average).

I would dare anyone to find a 13 year vehicle with a V8 that gets mileage comparable to a GS400!

Chevron does not exist in NY, and Shell is rare, the only one near my area closed down so now its only Sunoco or Getty gas (lukeoil)

I tend to use Shell more than any other brand/company. In my area, they're usually the cheapest and have V-POWA! Haha, Chevron is next if I can't find any Shell stations on the road.

I use Costco gas, $0.20± cheaper than Chevron or Shell. But they use / get supplied gas by Chevron.

I use Shell (Premium 91) because they give airmiles in Canada. Nitrogen enriched fuels aren't good for the engine as you're A) getting less fuel, B) the nitrogen is actually a deterent of combustion as it isn't part of the chemical reaction within your engine. Nitrogen is also used as a key component of fire suppressant systems on oil rigs. The nitrogen is supposed act as a detergent, but I would be skeptical of its actual effectiveness. But I like to travel so I'll keep using it because I want the points. For the other Canadians, Husky has the 94 octane which is actually a superior fuel, which I use for road trips or highway mileage.

As for mileage claims, driving behaviours changed at all? In theory, your mileage should degrade using the nitrogen enriched fuels.
