I'm soooo jealous of the MPG you are able to get on your cars. I normally get 12-16mpg if I am lucky. In New York, it doesn't matter if you fill up Mobile, BP, Shell, etc. Its all the same garbage. The secret that no one wants you to know is that most gas stations deplete their branded gasoline very quickly because of the high volume of consumers that fill up. I have seen popular gas stations using low quality gasoline just because they want to make an extra buck.
This is my reasoning. I fill up in the same gas station 2 days apart, for the same amount and do the same amount of driving. I only fill up with 93. Although my trips are short, mostly 2 miles in each direction to drive and pick up my girl, and about 15 miles to Staten island and back which I do every other day. If the gasoline is brand true, I can get 20mpg on the highway and about 15-16 in the city. If its not, I get anywhere between 8 to 10 miles to the gallon. Thats a very significant difference!
If driving late at night to some of the popular 24 hour gas stations that we have here in Brooklyn, I have noticed none brand name rigs supplying gasoline to the station. I know for a fact that companies advertise their gasoline by branding the gasoline trailer, so I know that somethings fishy.
So im just used to funny numbers. I love filling up outside of NYC though, the car drives just as it did when I got it.

I put a half tank from the E mark yesterday ($30), only did about 25 miles worth of driving.
And now I am down to the quarter tank. its VERY frustrating to say the least. I am about to park her up and get a corolla or something. this thing is getting about 6 MPG

I definitely must be pumping some untrue gas cause I get nothing higher than 11MPG in my GS4. I hope someone does a study on the quality of these NYC gas station quality gas. Its very irritating.

I get 23 MPG on average in the city and I get about 32+MPG on the highway. I keep my car properly maintained and do all my scheduled maintenance on time. I drive it like I stole it onto on ramps and drive spirited fashion. I also drive like a grandma and take my time with the drive.
I use Chevron 91 Octane here in Canada and at times I will use Shell as a secondary option when I can. My last road trip gave me an average of 29MPG.

i did notice this too, awhile back. Before I would see a Chevron truck with the Chevron logo. Now, all I see is an unnamed/blank truck that comes to fill ALL CHEVRON stations. I don't understand the purpose behind it, but it's been like this for a year plus already. I haven't really notice a difference. Maybe they got cheap to paint the trucks now?

I have an RX300, and my best experiences for gasoline have been from Chevron, Texaco and Sunoco. Shell for me has been hit and miss. Except for very few instances a few years ago, my RX will always run Premium.
