Default How do I remove the console?

I stole this picture from mcnelson, who has the coolest shifter I have ever seen. I need to know if this piece slides out without removing anything else i.e. the shifter. I found one screw under where the heated seat switch would be but I don't see any others.

Can you just slide it out? What is holding it on there? Thanks.

Unhappy ALRIGHT, I CONFESS

You guys are too much. Ok, look I need to get under the wood grain in the console because I spilled some coke down there and now the shifter is a little sticky. Yes, I am a dumbass and wasn't paying attention.

Now that I have a reason: Any way to get the thing off easily? I have read that on some Lexus cars the wood trim just snaps off. Do I need to pull harder, use a screwdriver, perhaps? Or do I need to disassemble the whole console?

I know Jmai asked how to get the shifter off and no one knew, but someone must know how the console comes apart, please stop hiding:eek: .

Thanks in advance. Even guesses and clues would be more helpful than nothing at all.

FINE i'll help you. ok first pull your cigarette lighter console out. it just pulls straight out. kinda need little pressure but just open the door up and use that as a handle to grab on when you pull at it.

next there is a plastic ring right at the base of your shift ****. push that down. then it exposes 2 screws. remove those screws. then just pull the shifter **** up.

the lift up the wooden piece from the top. and it just comes right out.

I AM THE FIRST GENERATION KING. LOL

Thanks Jmai, I'll try that this weekend. Did you ever get your instrument cluster working properly? Mine still works but I imagine it won't last forever.

Unhappy .........................

I was REAL careful but I stripped both the screws on the shifter ****. I guess at my next oil change I will have the guys at the Lexus dealer see what they can do.

Also one of those tiny metal brackets that holds in the ashtray fell down somewhere and is rattling around. On the plus side, the shifter isn't sticking anymore (not sure why).

If I ever get it apart I'll size those LEDS for you. That is a cool idea about putting in a different color.

So what is your next mod going to be jmai? If I ever get some $$$ coming my way I really want to update my wheels/suspension but I also need to do something about that stock radio.
