How do you take off the shifter and the wood grain around it? I have the rear of the center console loose but where is the front attached?
You must first remove the ashtray and then on the base of the shifter there is a plastic cover that slides down..When you slide it down there are 2 screws that you remove and the shifter comes right off..Once this is done you pry up the back of the plate and also lift it from the front were you removed the ashtray.. Hope this helps..

lolz thanks that worked out great.... wonder how long it would have taken me to figure that out on my own LOL
well vinyl is a pain in the *** to work with.... but i got it done with the help of a trusty heat gun.... few tiny tiny bubbles near ect switch but other than that it came out nice. Its black ash vinyl, i think it looks better than stock brown.
Looks good! Now go buff out the plastic around the shifter Did you do the ashtray and door switches to match? I've been thinking about doing all mine in Blue CF. Post a pic of it in the car!
lol i know the plastic piece pops out so i'll do it when i get the chance. for now i did the shifter surround. Next up is the ashtray and my dashkit and then the door switches. Its hard not to get bubbles gotta go real slow and use alot of heat but too much messes it up.. bah
