Because Lexus headlight seals suck. Every Lexus I owned had condensation in the headlights at one time or another. I have never had this happen in any other car. Anyway, on my RX330 it was still under warranty so I got brand new ones from the dealer. Otherwise, just dry them out, and reseal them with some automotive weather stripping sealer and it should be fine.

the passenger headlight is usually the one with condensation due to not a bad plastic cover seal but worn boots and back cover-up pieces.

Condensation works like this.

Hot air- touches cold surface = condensation

Fix = ventilation of space, Raising the Humidity point, or lowering Space temp.

why the passenger gets Condensation is because if you look closely hot air from the radiator is directly radiated to the back of the headlight without a shield. if you have an aftermarket air intake also will increase the amount of hot air being pulled in.

try cutting a plastic piece and using it as a sheild, check your back boots, breathers level cover, etc. Also putting cooler air behind the headlight will help. But in general the GS headlights are not that great in design when it comes to Condensation

hope this helps

****-adkt has great points that make sense. I had tons of condensation when I first bought my GS400. I removed the small rubber circle seals from the inner accent lights and brought the old ones to the hardware store and got the same size rubber seals and replaced them. No more condensation! This problem is consistent with GSs so some stuff works and other small mods don't. If it bothers you that much you may want to consider replacing the headllamp with after market projection headlamps. They are a little costly but they look freakin sweet when they are done right.

Use silicone as a quick fix... I like the angel eyes look... I switched to them. Looks and works great, had them for over a year and the seals dry rotted a bit, called up the guy I bought them from and he sent me a new set, I gotta send him back this set (keeping a deposit...lol).
