Default Driver side headlight auto-off not working

Last night I noticed when I got out of the car my drivers side headlight was off while my passenger side light stayed on for about 20 more seconds.
At first I thought I just needed a new bulb, but tonight I saw both headlights are working when the car is on or when I turn the headlights on manually, but when I shut the car off the drivers side goes off immediately and the passenger side turns off in about 20 seconds.
I really like my auto-off after a little bit instead of it turning off immediately.

Any idea what could be wrong? I haven't changed anything recently. Other than that I can't see any other problems.

FYI I swapped out my 08 headlights for 2014 headlights about a year ago and haven't had any problems.

Now the driver side headlight doesn't come on all the time.

If I turn the lights off and back on the headlight will turn on.
I'm probably going to be taking the car into Lexus to see if they can figure it out.

Feeling pretty stupid. Turned out to be a failing headlight bulb.

question regarding this topic... Is this common behavior for an HID bulb when its "going bad"? I noticed my LHS HID headlamp has been working intermittently lately.. Havent had a chance to look at it though. In my experience with Halogen bulbs, once they burn out, thats it.. but an HID bulb will work intermittently when its "on its way out"?

From my research (and confirmed by my Lexus dealership) that is how HID bulbs go out. I also read it's best to replace both of them at the same time.

This was my experience as well. One light got flaky, replaced both bulbs with Philips bulbs identical to OEM, all has been good ever since.

Thanks for the info guys. The LHS doesnt seem to work at all anymore, so today I'm going to inspect the bulb, and maybe swap left to right and see if the problem stays on the left, or moves to the right. Hoping its not a wiring or ballast issue. Side note- new HID bulbs are expensive, wow
