Default Headrest Monitors Recommendation?

OK for starters, I searched...10 pages of results.

Looking for brand/model/size recommendations for simple, not break the bank headrest monitors. Would like them to fit into the OE headrest and from what I can tell that limits me to a 6.5 inch screen? If anyone can confirm that too that would be great.

This will be my first attempt at headrest monitors, excited to try something new for a change.

Also if anyone has any recommendations on an av controller for the rear im open to suggestions.

Setup currently is an oe nav unit in a 98 that is soon to be ripped out in favor of a kenwood dvd/nav combo. Already bought the OE double din from carson and sourced a non-nav climate unit.

I run Alpine TME-M770 touch screen monitors in my headrests. They are 7" wide. For the headunit I'm using an Alpine W505.

ebay got 7" tft monitors for 160.00 includes shipping. You're a driver, don't go all out for rear passengers that's probably not gonna sit there anyway.

Hell ebay goes all the way up to 11.5 for headrests... but most of them are crap. Screens are junk quality, leather is cheap plastic. If you want REAL headrest with best quality, stick with Rosen or Nesa Vison Those 2 are a couple of the big dogs of the mobile video. With them, screens are very high quality and leather will be plush and extremely soft (probably better than our factory skins )

Those Alpine ones look nice any more examples like that? things that I have to custom install into the OE headrest is what im really looking for.

But if anyone has some first hand experience with a specific ebay example thats good im open to that as long as its not big and retarded.

Jokster, Those 2 companies look good but no prices......

Anyone else?

The M770 are discontinued I believe. They now have the M780s. It is not touch screen anymore, but now uses one base unit brain for two monitors, and the monitors are much thinner so they are easier to install. Pretty much any monitor around 7" or less you can custom install into the stock headrest. What I did was buy some used headrests so I could keep my originals unmodified.

I will say though the M770 touchscreens were cool. You could route any video source (Had 3 video sources) to any monitor front, left and right rear, and you could control the video routing from each touch screen monitor independently. I did need an extra Alpine A/V expansion unit for that to work though. These monitors went from my RX330, to a BMW, and not my GS.

Heres a Nesa I found on Ebay that is surprisingly cheap!
http://cgi.ebay.com/NESA-NPM-882PK-8...item563b6838a6 or this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NPM-888DV-Nesa-V...item3efecb9301

Both touch screens, top one comes with indash DVD player, second one has built in players in each headrest. (damn I wish I had some extra $$ for these! great deal)

Ive tried a couple of Ebay kits just for the hell of it, wont ever try again. As for Rosen, expect to pay top dollar. I believe they're the ones that make them for OEM. I'd say $500-$800 a pair. or find a gem like the link above on ebay.

The kids will definitely enjoy it. When I had the system in my old RX330, I had a play station, the head unit DVD, a DVD changer. My son could be watching a kids movie, I could be in the back playing Grand Turismo, the front passenger could be watching their own movie. It was good fun. Going to hook up a Wii and maybe the newer smaller PS3 in the GS too when I have some time.
