Default changing stereo in a 430 with nav

Can you use an aftermarket stereo and still retain the navigation system or are the 2 tied into each other. I am looking at a 2001 gs 430. BTW it has a Mark Levinson sound system.

Thanks, I had a suspicion that it was. On my GS 400 I changed head units and speakers and added an amp and loved the sound. I was looking GS 430's and many had the Nav units and I was hoping to change out the stereo in them.

It can be done, depends if you wanna dump the stock navi or retain it, both ways are possible however if you choose to stick with the stock navi, its a difficult process.

nav, stereo and climate controls are all in one. Aftermarket stereo can be added with stock nav still working. Not exactly a walk in the park but its doable.
