Unhappy Tail lamp replacement

I have a '99 GS300 and it has blown it's first tail lamp. I can't for the life of me figure out how to replace it. I must be making this harder than it actually is.

Can anyone help?

P.S. It is not one of the tail lamps in the trunk lid.

Thanks!

Ok maybe I can help..

To change any of the bulbs you need to unscrew the whole tailight assembly from the back end..

When you open the trunk you will see 2 plastic caps covering 10mm bolts but there are 2 more bolts on the inside of the trunk behind 2 plastic covers that just screw out.. Behind those plastic screws are 2 - 10mm bolts but you need a deep socket to get at them.. Pop those 2 bad boys off then you can take the whole tailight assembly off to get to the bulbs..

Hope I explained that right..

Ken

Why did you bother to change it. That's covered under warranty (if you're under 50K).

It is just not worth a special trip to the dealer. I have 52K miles but an extended warranty till 100K.
