I know about the redesign, the next GS is due sometime next year, I have no idea when, anyone seen any pics yet aside from that other pic floating around? It's a given that the car will most probably get a bump in power, but how much is yet to be known.

If this news is true, then I'm feeling kinda happy. We got the last of the Series II...It will never die...Arguably one of the best gran-touring luxo sedans ever...
I doubt they will stop production of GS300, if there is anything to be stop production, it will be GS430 with its poor sales recenly. GS300 sport design just came out and GS300 has always held a strong Sales.
I'm also curious of where you got this information. I know from a fairly reliable source (as already mentioned by a couple people) that the GS300 will become the GS330 but have not heard of any cease in production.
As I posted under "New GS Info" topic. For 2003, GS430 will be the only model for GS line for about year and half before they re-introduce the GS330. At meantime, GS430 price will be reduced to be more attractive the potencial buyers. The detail pricing has not yet be released, but you should expect a GS430 with most popular options will be right below $50K, which is about $4k to 5K price reduction from current price point. All of those info were from the recent Lexus to dealer PR.

I think this is a bit of a different 'version' from what you said before. Lexus making the GS300 go away for a while (I highly doubt a year and a half though) before the GS330 debuts seems reasonable. Besides, stopping on the GS300 or any model isn't unusual, Lexus and many brands do this on slower selling models knowing the dealer pipeline will still keep them available for a while. Lexus may stop BUILDING GS300's and still have enough to send dealers for several months, making the ACTUAL gap in AVAILABILITY as opposed to production, much shorter.
As far as a price reduction on the GS430 - won't that make current owners somewhat pissed?
That is why we have the term called "casualty of the war". Lexus will have to focus on the future maketing share as their first priority. Given the circumstance the low selling volume of GS430 (most of that were lease customers anyway), it is a small risk of "pissed off" customers vs. better marketing position for the long run. Besides, the current leased end GS300 customers will be "more than happy" to take a GS430 for their next GS for the same or even lower lease payment.
There will be 2002 GS300 and discontinue GS300 will not be announced until 2003 model year meaning at least until fall of 2002.
Lexus has sold about 400 GS4s a month average and January sold 191 GS 430s, how about in Feb?
Hell I like the fact no one has the car. Oh and Lexus styling is what drew me to em, their recent designs would NOT have gotten me, they better fix this QUICK!
