Default Auto Headlights

I was in bumper to bumper traffic today and passed through a viaduct and I noticed my lights didnt come on until I was at the end of the viaduct while other cars with auto lights turned on as soon as they hit darkness even a Hyundai Sonata. Is there a way we can adjust the turn on time?Because the way it is set now is really pointless.

I'd rather have some delay because I wouldn't want my HID's turning on and off every time I go into a tunnel. I don't see why it's pointless? When it's actually dark outside the lights will automatically turn on.

That is the reason why there is a timer. so the lights dont go on for only a few seconds.

What I was saying was I dont want it to be instant but with a little less delay ,we all been in our cars when its super sunny and you go into a tunnel and your eyes have to adjust to darkness all of a sudden .

SMUV, yse you can change the sensitivity of he light sensors. light1, light2, normal, dark1, dark2, or off. Off my head, i don't recall a time setting to turn them on, but like i said, you can change the sensitivity of the sensors..

Depending on the sensitivity it can take up to 20 seconds for the lights to turn on ...

Ok, you have solar sensors on your dash board, just at the corners of the base of the windshield. Depending on how much light those sensors are exposed to, they will turn on or off you head lights. NOW, to what my previous post was saying, with a techstream (Toyota scantool) you can change how sensitive those sensors are so they turn on with more or less light, so if you made them more sensitive to light they would turn on at 5pm, instead of 7pm. Or if you made them less sensitive to light, they would turn on at 8pm instead of 6 or 7... Understand?

I just had the Lexus dealer change my autolamps to "light2". They now come up about 5 seconds quicker but remain on waaaay too long. I'll be going back to the original setting on my next service visit.

What should a decent dealer charge you? Is there anyway to program this via the climate controls etc? I really dislike the dealer.

Sorry to hear you don't have a good dealer with whom to work. I live in Seattle and Lexus of Bellevue rocks!

It was my understanding these personal settings are done free gratis. I could be wrong (have been a time or two). I'll have to check my receipt to be sure.
