non-hids headlights create alot of glare on the road one reason is cause they don't have the auto leveling system, YES you can use a aftermarket kit BTW, but ideal is to retrofit with projectors $$$

You can also put the aftermarket in and adjust the beams a little lower to compensate for the enhanced lighting. This will solve the glare issue!!! You will need a reflector bulb or D2R!!!

Also the "bowl" reflectors are aimed for the light of halogen, not for HID which has a different path of light....if you will. You will notice on the GS non HID's that the pattern is vertical reflection and as for the HID version, they are squared with bends going verticle and horizontal.

There are OEM HID's out there that do not have the auto-leveling system, and only European and a few other countries require the car to have auto-Leveling. USA doesn't have that law as I know of.

I just ebayed a couple of HID headlights. I know when I get them on the car, I won't have the autoleveling, but oh well. Just make yourself a wire-harness to the battery and wire it up to the ballast and the line to the switch and you will be set.

If you want auto-leveling you can try to get the whole headlight for your car, the actuator is built into the headlamp housing itself, just make sure there lamps are OEM HID. maybe thats a better idea than aftermarket bulbs, then again its all about the money..

Getting autoleveling isn't easy as swapping headlights. The whole mechanism includes the mechanical leveler that's placed both in front and rear of the driver side suspension. Wiring the system is a pain in the butt and it's definitely not worth it.

Read these three threads
One

Two

Three

In summary, I've done HID in the halogen bowls. Glare is obnoxious even when you aim the headlights very low. Then you lose your light output.

One of my HID bulbs went out the iother day. I ordered two new bulbs from xenondepot.com. In uinstalled them today, only to notice that the reason why one of the bulbs went out was because it bursted. Why would it burst? Also, little pieces of glass from the bulb are now inside my headlight. Is my new bulb also going to burst? Maybe something is causing it to burst?

I only know of one other instance where someone's HID bulb shattered and it's because they ran over a pretty bad pothole with their aftermarket suspension.

Not installing them properly. Make sure you handle them carefully as any other headlight bulbs, oils from your fingers can create hot spots on the bulb resulting in overheating and bulbs shattering.

Getting xenon projectors would be the number 1 choice.
But, if not hidconcept.com is a good source for good quality HID kits as they use OEM stuffs.
HOpe this helps
