Default HELP! No Throttle response while on freeway.

Just wondering if anyone had the same experience on their GS. I have an 02 GS300 that is routinely serviced and well maintaned.

Last Friday, I was on the freeway doing around 70mph when suddenly I felt no response to the throttle as I was trying to accelerate. The rpm dropped and the car suddenly felt that it lost all it's power. It was a scary experience as I was on the fast lane and had to abruptly pullover to the curb while loosing a lot of momentum. The car was still idling when I stopped but still not responding to the gas pedal. Also note that there were no "engine light" check or any indicators lighting up in the dash. I turned-off the ignition and waited for about 2 minutes to re-start it. Car has been fine ever since.

Any idea what the probelm is? I brought it to the dealer and they found nothing wrong with the car.

Possibly the Throttle Position sensor is going out. It's a common problem on the GS.

parts is about $60. Installation is easy. Its basically a connector you need to unplug and 2-3 screws I believe.

You'll need a toyota scanner or something very similar to set the TPS, otherwise your throttle is going to be off. What I would do is use a pen/pencil/market/etc to trace the current position of the TPS and then try to match the outline with the new TPS.
