Default Intermittent flat throttle

I have a question for all you experienced members, kind of baffles me. this has happened a couple times, even at low speed, throttle response goes flat, the engine does not die or run ruff, just goes flat like i lost the throttle. i press a bit more on the accelerator and all good. kind of wierd when that happens at speeds of 70 mph... any idea before i take it into lexus ( would be a pricey repair there i am sure)

Please help !!!!!!

I think I've experienced what oneforu2c is talking about.

It's a delay/lag as much as as it feels as if the engine is losing power...like you just let off the throttle pedal a bit (but your foot didn't move). If you give it a little more throttle, it kicks back in.

I've mainly experienced it at low speeds...can't recall it doing that to me at highway speeds.

Makes me wonder if there's a small dead spot in the throttle position sensor.

do you have stability control turned on or off? the default setting is on. you have to manually turn it off every time you start the car. but that could be causing what you're describing.

I think these guys are on the spot here.
I was starting to suspect my Throttle Position Sensor again. I used to get serious drops RPMs after the car sat for a few days. At the moment, I've been blaming it on the insane heat here.

I have been having something similar. I will be driving, sometimes on the highway at speed and sometimes not and the accelerator will just have little to no response. You can put it half way to the floor and get nothing. Usually the VSC light and the picture light of a car on a curvy road come on. I pull over and the engine is still running but while in gear the car will only creap at about 10 mpg if that. If I put it in neutral you can floor the accelertor and get no response. You turn the car off sit 2mins and start back up and all is fine. Now I do have the blitz throtle control.
It is happening more and more frequently and is very dangerous.
I believe I was test driving a 500sl and had this happen once.
And one other point for the experts. I am thinking about getting a chip promiseing increased mpg and better performance. My goal is to decrease the lag time between when you mash the accelerator and when the car begins to increase speed. Does anyone know if this "lag time" can be decreased? The Blitz control exaggerates the pedal movement, more speed from less movement but the lag time is still there. Will the chip and Blitz control interfere with eahc other? Thanks.

I think the same thing has happened with my 02 GS430. I noticed it for the first time in August. Happened about 4-5 times total in August, and has not happened since. I would experience no acceleration for a split second when taking my foot off the brake and first laying in on the accelerator when pulling out of parking spots or starting off from a stop sign. It was weird. I would lay into it and nothing, then it would go. So everyone thinks this is a bad throttle positioning sensor?

Not sure about peddle sensor, mine intermittently does exactly that when car stopped then taking off, I noticed if I see it lagging completely coming off gas then back on it seems to clear whatever that lag issue is.

will look at the kit others suggested here to see if that corrects the issue. Good luck

Gents, I am a automotive numbnut, but this issue happened to me with my toyo Hilux surf 3.0td. I solved it with the ECU being overhauled. It was reasonably cheap and everything improved after that - gas usage, performance and so on. Most sparkies are not interested in the ECU - at least in my experience. And that is the central issue IMO. If the ECU isnt right then a whole bunch of **** happens as a result. Dont fix the symptoms, fix the source.

There's one or two threads about having the ECU re-programmed with good reported results.
