WARNING - If you do this repair with the window up, you don't have to remove the window. There are several steps in the process that can therefore be avoided - like removing the mirror.

========================================================

I tried this project this past weekend and had to quit. I stripped the Torx 30 bolt on the inside of the door. That thing must almost be welded in. I'll need some help getting this bolt out.

I found this whole project much more difficult than I expected. Of course now that I've taken the door apart and put it back together, I can do it again in no time.

Hmm.. Well it sounds as though you did not quite get through this job..... so why would you make a post like you did when you have not even done the job yourself???? So when you do complete it maybe you could just make it a factual statement rather than an attempted slam on my DIY. Make your own DIY. It does offend me in your tone you have. I feel like going back and deleting all my posts on this DIY. This took me a lot of time to do and then to have someone that has not even done the job say WARNING....... This DIY has problems. .. just makes my hair stand on end.

Anyway.. please comment on my questions below

I would like to see your pictures on how you get the lock actuator rods disconected from the door handle with the glass in?? The glass was really easy to remove, I would not be concerned about taking it out at all. I used the TOYOTA guide that I shows what do to only without useful pictures. I did say that I did not think that the mirror needed to be removed.

Does anyone have the Toyota body pages on how they think you should do this job? I have looked for it but cannot find it. There are several pages that walks you through this job like the Toyota manual shows you how to do things.

Thanks in advance

Sorry, but you took my post in a manner which it was not intended. I think your post has merit except for removing the window. That was all I was saying.

If you're not sure this job can be done without removing the window, check these other posts.

I have taken apart the actuator portion of the door lock what a joke. It has what I would call an old remote control car motor in it. It has a really long shaft.

I used a chisel to get the cover off. It was really quite brittle. If I had another motor to put in I would epoxy the crap out of the case and not think to much about putting it back in there. I think the motor they put in there is not very good.
