Just picked up my new 2002 GS430-truly a great machine (I had the 98 GS400)

Anyway-with navigation it seems anyone who drives or parks the car incl parking lot attendant has access to your home address if its a programmed destination-maybe not such a good idea-glovebox and trunk can be locked but not DVD

good point... but the valets at most places don't have time to mess around w/ all that stuff (i think)... plus it's kinda hard to find the address that's programmed into the thing. i'm not too worried.

I've never had my car valet parked and I don't intend to. If you go to a place that has valet, just tell them you want to park it yourself. I've never had a problem.

No. Different systems. '98 uses hard drive, '02 uses DVD and bigger (wider) screen.

A quick solution to this problem would be to program an address close to your home. This way the potential of them finding your beauty would be minimized.

Actually when I bought my car (certified from the dealer), I found the previous owner who lived about 60 miles from me on the shore. I got bored a Sunday afternoon, took a drive to the navigation address and passed by. As I passed by this house, I saw this guy wave at me from his driveway. I stopped by and the guy said that the car I had looked a lot like his previous car. I responsed " Yeah, its a great car" (I never actually told them that this was HIS previous car...I didn't want him to think I was stalking him). I learned quickly why the old man traded the 1998 GS400. He had a brand new GS430 in the driveway and was hand waxing it.
I knew there and then that my baby had been well taken care of!

i know this is a very old thread...

but personally, i never program my home addy, especially for that HOME button. last thing i need is someone steal my car and drive t my home, and then use the homelink and open up the gate

might as well give them the keys
