Okay, my ebay car is ready and I have been driving around in it the past couple of days and messing with the navi. It has very few streets on it. The only thing that it is listing are the highways around me. It does not take much for it to look like I'm just driving through a field. Is this normal for a 98 GS4 or am I simple? Thanks.

 

Are you zoomed out too far? If you are, it wont show much, as far as detailed streets go... Also, you may need to update your navigation map data harddrive. You should be able to go into your nav menu and check the data version you currently have.,.

 

Same thing happened to my 02 when I drove to a shopping center built in 04. Dah. I thought it was wierd as driving through town with the streets shown on the nav I got a warning something like the lady wasn't going to speak to me anymore but to watch the map for the turns. This was when it was showing me the way home though.

 

The older nav systems do not have a lot of "smaller" towns on the maps. They will have the freeway off ramps and a few highways, but that is all.

 

Upgrade to the new map version.

It must be the smaller town thing. To upgrade my map I have to replace the hard drive. I do drive through a great deal of fields. No big deal I just thought it would be nice to have all my roads if not just half of them. Thanks!

 

Even the new hard drive maps do not have smaller towns, but they do have more points of interest.
