I want to put a bluetooth connection in my 03 GS430 for my cell. What do I need to buy?

I've seen the Motorola Bluetooth system in a lot of vehicles, was told that was a good one to go with.

I have a Parrot CK3000 unit in my GS400. This is a professionally installed unit, that is invisible except for a small module with two buttons (red/green) to make calls or hang up. It mutes the radio and uses the radio speakers for calling. Works really well, but is a little tricky to install because of the amplified speakers.

Axel,
What color was the radio mute wire on your GS400?

kpuri,

Unfortunately I don't know. The installer cut the speaker connectors off and rewired the connection to the Parrot kit. It is not actually muting the stereo but rather it takes over the speakers. The subwoofer is actually still playing the radio sound when I use the phone, but you can hardly hear it.

The Parrot kit is from France and apparently is easy to hook up with VW's and other European cars, but a little more challenging for japanese cars. I have seen cable kits for Parrot on Ebay, that should make the install easier, but the amplified speakers can still be a problem. Once installed though, I really like the Parrot kit.

Too bad you are not in Atlanta, I could give you the name and number of the guy who installed mine. He does a great job.

Where did you mount the module?

The module is mounted inside the console, next to the radio somewhere (I think). The same installer put Parrot kits in my wife's Infiniti and my son's Mitsubishi, and he always mounts them in the console.

According the wiring diagrams (click on the ARRC logo) on http://www.bedlib.org/ebsco.html the color of the mute wire for a 99 GS4 varies depending on which part of the audio system you want to tap into.

There was a thread on this forum a few years ago where someone posted photos of how to connect most of the wires of a phone kit to OEM wiring in the right kick panel in an 03 GS300 - here it is: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ight=Bluetooth

If your 99 GS4 was prewired for a Lexus phone like the 98-00 LS was, it is especially easy to connect a phone kit's mute wire by plugging it into a connector under the center center console. Here is a post that shows where the connector is located on a 00 LS and it includes a link to my doc on how I installed my phone kit: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...highlight=mute
