Default AVIC-D2 install question

I have a 99 GS 300 and I took it the local stereo shop to get it installed. But they can't find the proper wiring harness that goes with the car. So, they started to look for the amp so they can hard wire but can not find it.

Can anybody tell me the proper wiring harness for the GS 300 or where to find it. And also can somebody with helping me locate where the factory amp is.

Thank you

There is no harness, the shop should know to hard wire it. The amp is under the seat. PM me with your Email address and I will send you the wiring diagram PDF file.

Welcome to CL btw

That is correct, it uses a 1985-2006 toyota corrolla/camry..etc universal wire harness. just remember to tap the acc batt wire to the back of the clock.

It does use the toyota harness I had to rewire mine anyways because the colors were incorrect and some of the wires were being run to empty slots, but the plugs were right. I believe 98-00 use the two plug toyota harness and have the same color code on the wiring. I just installed the exact same unit (avic-d2) in my GS last week and did the install myself. Look in the audio fourm for more info (tons of info there), there are pdf. files of the color coded wires and what each one of them are.

i am actually gonna be installing the avic-d1 in my car in about a week or two when the double din kit gets here. the harness i am using is the TOYOTA AMP INTEGRATED HARNESS. its just basically a harness that plugs right up with 4 RCA's that plug into the AVIC-D1/D2's front and rear audio preouts. you have to hook up the AMP Turn-On wire tho. all of your speakers/subs should still work after with your factory amp powering them.

I am so confused.
a lot of people have said there is no harness to hook up a second gen gs to an aftermarket deck.
Will this harness work for hooking up an avn double din unit?
does the harness allow the use of factory amp andsub with the aftermarket deck.

chinkster, I would also like to do this. Do you think you can take a few pics of the install process? Also, where did you buy the harness?

i'm not taking my car to any shop, which is precisely why i'm asking if there is a pre-made harness.

Default hey

if you get the aftermarket harness. does it mean you can leave all the other harnesses plugged into the stock amp?(basically, what i mean is you can run the stock amp with the aftermarket deck) is that possible?
