AVIC-D2 install question

Been there done that. Search my posts. I recommend using none of the factory stereo wiring or components. Start with new power leads of a decent capacity, run RCA cables to new amps and new speaker wires to new speakers. You will end up doing that anyway and be much happier with the sound. It was not that difficult to do. A bit of advice, run your grounds back to the battery. I am still chasing alternator whine because I did not know that I needed to do this but it has been recommended to me as the only real solution. Also you should use a decent capacitor on your amps. It made a big difference in the sound quality and how much power it had.

Ahh i see.

Alternator whine?

Maybe it is interference between your power/ground lines and RCA.

Try routing them both indvidually...

1 one Each side.

It seem to work for me.

Regarding running all new wires? I am quite content with the OEM setup.

I just want to install a after market HU for the NAV and reverse camera.

I have run my wires separately. The RCA cables run down the drive shaft hump from the head unit to the trunk and the power wires are run down the passenger side door sill. To verify my solution, before I actually put all the work into it, I will temporarily connect a ground wire from the trunk to the battery outside of the car when I get some free time.

Or...you could make shure to hook up all stereocomponentes in the car to the same groundingspot (as near the amp as poss.) Thats what i recomend my customers who have trouble with alternator-whine. In 99% of the cases...the whine dissapears
