Problem with the electronics!!
Hello everyone,
I don't know if this is the right place to post or not. I've got a 1998 Aristo V300 Vertex Edition. I've got a bit of a problem with the centre dash.
It all started about a year ago when I went out on a little "meet" with loads of other cars. Was on the highway (motorway over here in the UK), doing approximately 75mph when all of a sudden I drive over a bump and fry my SatNav system (aftermarket). Took it back to where the previous owner had the SatNav fitted as everything including the Centre console was "dead".
He fixed it up for me although now I've got another problem with the centre console. Everytime the Steering Wheel decides to move in, after turning the car off, when I come back and start the car back up the centre console is dead. Then I have to fiddle about with the steering column (moving it up, in, down, out) and it finally starts up again (centre console that is). Also kind of embarassing since I've got that dreaded whine in cold weather, when adjusting the steering column.
Also sometimes when I drive over a bump the CD Player decides to just "mute" then after pulling and letting go off the handbrake lever the CD Player starts working again.
I'm guessing the culprit is a lose wire/connection/solder somewhere behind the dash, but what kind of lose wire and how to get to it...is beyond me!
Does anybody know what it may be? Or how I can pull the front centre console off so I can sort out this little problem? Maybe even pull the part of the dash near the parking brake lever?
I'm hoping for some advice by the end of today as tomorrow I'm planning on ripping up the rear shelf and upgrading the subwoofer to a 12W3 with some fabrication and going to take a look at how I can wire up the front outputs into a LLC and hook it all up together.
Thanks in advance.

Can't help with getting into the dash, but I do agree 100% it's a poor connection. Check out the audio forum, there may be instructions there for getting "behind the scenes". Nice to see another poster from across the pond.
I would first insure the body grounds are clean and tight.
After removing the battery, then starting with the primary body ground under the battery, follow the ground battery lead to it's end at the engine.
Then check the body to engine grounds, insuring they are tight and the wire is not loose in the crimped wire end.

Hey Tammy,
Thanks for the advice, but since I hadn't received any replies I decided to go solo and use trial and error method.
Turns out there's a cable in the ignition harness that actually provides a 12V Remote turn on to the WHOLE centre console (lights, gearbox, centre screen, etc), which was hanging by a strand (literally). I'm just glad I found the loose wire before it actually "fell off". Anyways all is well now, just have to find out what wires are what behind the Navigation Screen for speakers so I can tap into them and use them to a LCC. Can't wait to get that done

Browse this site. He has several DIY mods that may get you into where you want to be. I'd check the fog light mod first.

Yeah, checked out the site and its what got me behind the screen, thanks for the help though. Thanks go out to the owner of that site, really helped me ALOT.
It's been sorted out now, as I mentioned above.
Now I just have to pull the headlights out next Friday, and do the black housing mod and also replace the stock speakers/amp
. Again thanks for the help - appreciate it.
