Guys,
Have the dealership relube the steering assembly and they may have to adjust some pins in there as well. This was a known problem on 98 GSs and happens sooner rather than later in hot weather climates. I had this happen to my 98 GS4 when I took it down to Miami. HTH
I have the same problem...THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. Anyways...I tried lubing all the joints and ballscrews with ball bearing grease. DO NOT DO THIS. Made things worse infact. It needs a more viscous lubricant or time to replace the motor.
My car is ironically at the dealer getting this speaking steering column thing fixed. They already replaced the motor. Worked well for the first 3 months, but than started squeaking again. I think they might end up lubing it all up. Not sure.
Originally posted by GS300.ru I don't have no records, but my dealer changed some metal part (from sales guy words). does not happen for a year already
Could you possibly call your dealer or look for the reciept. As you might know its quite embarrasing having your steering column squeel like a pig. WHAT DID THEY FIX!!!!
It is very true about the hot weather making it squeak more. This never happened in the winter, but only this week when it was steaming hot here in MD. It cooled off this afternoon and, you guessed it, no more squeaks.
