Default Squeaky Steering Column

Okay, so now after I turn off my car and the steering wheel moves up, it gives a wonderful squeak squeak squeak. Any remedies for this?

Guys,
Have the dealership relube the steering assembly and they may have to adjust some pins in there as well. This was a known problem on 98 GSs and happens sooner rather than later in hot weather climates. I had this happen to my 98 GS4 when I took it down to Miami. HTH

I have the same problem...THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. Anyways...I tried lubing all the joints and ballscrews with ball bearing grease. DO NOT DO THIS. Made things worse infact. It needs a more viscous lubricant or time to replace the motor.

My car is ironically at the dealer getting this speaking steering column thing fixed. They already replaced the motor. Worked well for the first 3 months, but than started squeaking again. I think they might end up lubing it all up. Not sure.

Ok, did ANYONE ever get this fixed?

Cuz it is hitting over 90 here and its squeaking like a dying pig.

If you had it fix, please look over your service records and please tell us what they did (parts changed, detail, etc)

Could you possibly call your dealer or look for the reciept. As you might know its quite embarrasing having your steering column squeel like a pig. WHAT DID THEY FIX!!!!

Yes, very embarassing when you get out of your 50k car and your passengers hear the squeal of death emitting from your interior (as they exit)

Guys,
I'll check my records tomorrow, if I still have them for my old 98 GS4, and see what the service advisor wrote in them. I'll post it tomorrow.

Default Only in hot weather......

It is very true about the hot weather making it squeak more. This never happened in the winter, but only this week when it was steaming hot here in MD. It cooled off this afternoon and, you guessed it, no more squeaks.

Yes, I agree this should be a recall!
