remove paint on chrome rear bumper strip?
Hey guys, I just got my car repaired and i think there seems to be a little paint on the rear bumper chrome strip. Is there any easy way of removing the paint on the strip .. its nothing major but just wanted to know.

Some one got paid for painting, let them take care of it.
If you use thinner etc, you run the risk of ruining the nearbye paint. If you scratch it out, you run the risk of gouging into the chrome finish.

A few things you can try. Arranged in safe factor. 1Safe....3Caution needed
1. Get a claybar. It does wonders on removing contaminants on paint including overspray. Claybar is made to clean the paint on your car, so obviously its completely safe to use on the paint.
2. If the overspray isn't too bad use some rubbing alcohol. Might take a while but it should eventually come out.
3. If its a big splat or blotch on there, you will need to use paint remover. This stuff is very strong. Make sure you dont accidentally get it on surrounding body paint.
Good luck!

Replace it if you can!
I recently had my car front and rear bumper painted and installed and I replaced the molding on both? It looks a whole lot better and adds a little bling, bling to the front and rear. The strips are not cheap at the dealership , but if you can afford it replace them!

Would acetone work? I have a lot of acetone and i know its stronger than alcohol .. and would acetone go through tape if i tape the surrounding area .. either that or how would i go about removing the chrome stripping.

It just peels off. Just get a flat screwedriver and wedge the end up and peel it off. It is just like tape.
