Default Code p1128 Bad TPS?????

I recently had my car go into limp mode(no throttle response) twice in the past 2 weeks. CEL came on so I went to autozone and the code was p1128(Throttle Control Motor Lock Malfunction). Just wondering if the TPS would give this code.

This isn't the TPS, it's (probably) the throttle motor. Since the GS accelerator is drive-by-wire, they use a motor to control the position of the plate. I'm presuming that code means its gone bad (mine is in the process of failing too). I got a quote for $203 from one of the sponsors for a new one. There is also a sensor for the accelerator, which costs $188, but that code means the motor is causing the problem. Open the hood with the ignition on (but the car not running), and listen to the cone-shaped piece by the throttle (drive side, above the VVT-i junk). It's probably making a whirring sound if its crapped out. You might have luck disconnecting the battery cable for a while (1 hour should do it), and plugging it back in - it may reset the code and data and allow you to drive it to the dealer - I was able to do this before and its been fine for a few weeks. It will ocassionally cause my pedal to be very unresponsive for the first 10% or so of its travel and will finally kick in, but at least its driveable.

edit -
This is the part number and price:
8967230010 MOTOR, THROTTLE CONT $203.17

Possibly - if the throttle system is broken, it could be keeping the plate too closed to keep car on.

I got this code today and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery reset the computer. I'll be purchasing a new throttle motor this week and will report any further issues, if any.

Yes, and my car has been running great ever since. No issues. I did have to replace a lot of vacuum lines, so every car of this vintage should have the same thing done.

Thats great to hear! I been very curious on whats my issue after my gs went into limp mode with that code. Before I replaced the apps and tps because it had (p1121). Then it only read p1128 (throttle control motor lock) with limp mode again so I’ll go ahead and replace the throttle motor too and will look at the vacuum lines as well!
