I used to get pulled over all the time in Ohio for 20% / 5% and finally got a note from my doctor saying I had Photophobia. this kept me out of any tickets and having to remove the tint.
Are you serious? LOL I'll have to try that in case I ever get pulled over.

you can get doctors notes and apply with MVD, for exceptions or permits for driving with darker tinting..In AZ at least.. but the catch is, and i believe it is most states.. you can only drive the vehicle in the day time.. i have always had 5% all the way around and my whole windshield tinted.. on all of my cars that i can remember... and AZ is the hot state!! if you guys would like ill post pics of the windows...

yes please post. i would like to see how 5% window tint looks
thanks
Do you have a pic of your car? I would like to see how that looks.
Did the cop use a tint meter to determine what your % was on your window is? Or Did he just say tha it was too dark and should be 35%. Sounds like if NY law states that front and rear sides must be 70% or more then any thing darker technically he can cite you for it.
It seems like 35% on the front might be accecptable then I would just change the front.
In Colo. it's 27% all around (excecpt windshield) OR 70% front side glass and any % tint behind front side glass.
If your around 25-35% you usually wont get stopped Its when your 10& and 5% is when you stand out wull get noticed.

I live in Brooklyn and my car has 20% all around and 5% in the back window. I've had this for over a year and never got pulled over for it. I don't think its all the cops in NYC that pull people over for tinted windows, just depends where you live, i think Queens and Staten Island are pretty bad. And yes it is a safety issue for the cops, but they probably also figure some young punk who deserves a ticket anyway is driving the car. At the Academy they actually tell us it might be a good idea not to pull over cars with dark tinted windows, especially at night, cuz you never know whats on the other side. Yeah, I'm finishing the Academy now and gonna be a cop in a few weeks.... but don't worry guys, i wont be giving any tint tickets, unless the guy really gets on my nerves.
