That's the type of tint I have. (chrome metallic tint). It blends in nicely. I was going to get 20% all around, but I don't want to hassle with cops.
I know you don't want to have to spend extra money to get it replaced. I would change it so the damn cops would stop hassling you and get the tint shop sticker so it will vouch that it is legal.
Good luck.
yeah thats a good idea , to keep any docs stating the % . It looks great now , but just get the 35 in the front. Apparently the crime rate is so low in NY these days, that cops can have time to spend on such a petty infration. And the judges dont have enough other cases to hear. Thats good to hear.

oh you have the chrome metallic? i can't even tell.. it just looks black to me in the pic
I got 35% in front and 5% in the Back, also front half windshield is 25%.
Well, I guess in Las Vegas, we are legal to have all 5% tints.
wow that must be crazy dark. do you have any pics of it on a larger scale (not ur sig)
how do you see out the back window at night. Im havign a hard time with my 20%. I always roll down my windows to park at nite
Take it from someone that knows tints, in NYS the low states the following...
Front windshield may be tinted any % upto the "As-1" line
Front side windows maybe tinted 70% or lighter (factory glass is about 85%)
Rear side windows maybe tinted 70% or lighter
Rear windshield may be tinted any % you like as long as the car has 2 side rear-view mirrors.
Excuses that dont work in court....
its not my car, i borrowed it
i bought it like that
i have a doctors note (unless permit is issued by DMV)
They reason they are cracking down on that is because a cop was shot in NJ through a tinted window and he didnt even know he had it coming. A bigger reason is because the city needs more revenue and cops are pressured to issue summonses for anything they could.
I used to get pulled over all the time in Ohio for 20% / 5% and finally got a note from my doctor saying I had Photophobia. this kept me out of any tickets and having to remove the tint.
"Front side windows maybe tinted 70% or lighter (factory glass is about 85%)"
so if i get 35% tint + the extra 15% factory glass tint.. then I wont be able to tint the car anyways rite?
"Rear side windows maybe tinted 70% or lighter "
does this mean i can't have 20% on the rear windows(back doors)?

Around here, the State Patrol carry a device that measures the amount of light the window will pass. (I think it's 35%) I made the comment to one about not having anything better to do than hassle people about window tint. He told me that A-It's the law (So is driving 45 in a 60 zone, but I didn't remind him of that) and B- A number of drug arrests he was involved in the car was heavily tinted. He also related that if he pulled someone over that had tinted windows and couldn't see what the people inside were doing, it would be very possible the people who were stopped would, for his safety, also be staring down the barrel of his Glock.
Your mistake was putting tint on the front window. I have 20% all around EXCEPT the front window and the legal limit is 35% here. Try to take off the front window tint or drive with the sunroof open more often, especially if you have black interior compared to tan interior. Good luck.
