i have a '99 GS 300 with SRT intake and am having an issue with engine / power that needs to be resolved.
when you hit the gas it takes forever to pick up any speed (from a standing start) and its goes to 5 or 6,000 rpm before it shifts. Very very slowly it will pick up speed but just runs very very slugishly.
when on the highway you have to floor it to get up to 70 -80 mph.
well today, i am driving on a slow street and the car just totally loses any power and the check engine light comes on and the VSC power on/off button (both) comes on.
I hit the accelerator but it does nothing.
I gently pull over to the side and shut car off and it restarts but same thing - no power.
I try again and the same engine lights are on but at least the car moves when I hit the gas.
FYI, I changed the MAF sensor 1 week ago hoping it would fix my engine problem - but I still have the same issue.
I had twice this happened in the past two years. Other members suggest me to check the oil cap and make sure it is tight. To fix the problem, you need to disconnect the power of the battery (reset the engine light), then you connect it back and should be back to normal. However, I have no idea why it was happened.
