Default Gas Mileage

Hey guys.
I just bought a 98 GS4 last week and i filled the tank up. I only drove like a 140 miles and my tank is already at the half way mark. I didnt even drive it hard at all.. all i did was normal 70 mph commute to work and back . I maybe pushed it hard once right after refueling. On my trip meter on the screen says im getting 16 mpg on average. Do you guys know what might be the problem. This is really stressing me out. I thought i'd get better mileage but is this normal?

the gas mileage of gs4 and gs3 are the same.... they are both about 18 on paper

in reality, what you get is about what i get too, about 240 to 280 miles every time i fill up. every time i fill up i notice it's about 13 gallons too (your needle would be pointing almost at empty but when you fill up it's about 14 gallons i believe), so that's about 20mpg.

i know for a fact that if you push your car hard, the engine uses gas like crazy, it really dops fast i can tell you. maybe you have some stop and go too? that would take gas fast as well

On the highway, I get 19 MPG
City, I get 14 MPG

Since I do a lot more city driving, I fill up often...

I get around 280-310 miles per tank. If I drive 80+mph and/or stay on the throttle around town, the mpg fall exponentially.

Your mileage seems about right.

i drive roughly 40miles a day, its about 6miles city and 14miles, i can barely get 18mpg. i though it was because i step on it too hard, but no matter how gentle i am, i have no faith to get over 19at all

Thanks for the replies guys... yea on my trip meter on the navigation screen tells me that my avg MPG is 16.2. So i thought i was getting some horrible numbers. I always thought that the GS4's get around 18 mpg city and 22mpg highway, an average of 20 mpg. but my trip meter comes out to average at 16 mpg! WHY I ASK WHY!?!?!!?

If I do mostly city driving, its only about 15mpg for me (yeah sucks w/ the higher gas prices now).

have you reset the trip meter on the navi? i would try that. also you can calculate it the old fashioned way. i may have missed it, but how manymiles does your car have on it? whens the last maintenance performed?

my gs4 averages around 24 -26 on the hwy, and 18-21 city

My car has about 59,000 miles on it and its a 98. I did reset the navigator. i guess i do more driving in the city than the hwy. Does the maintinance help a lot? i was thinking about doing the fuel injector cleaner. Hopefull that'll help me on my gas mileage. I WISH i was gettting 24-26 on hwy and 18-21 on city.... man i'd love my car then!
