Default Reliability

Hi folks i just wanted to ask you guys about the reliability of a gs300. How strong is the motor? This is gonna be my daily driver and i am considering purchasing a black gs300 with 71k on the meter. Its going for 18k, you guys think its worth it? Is this a car that I have to take to the mechanics every other day cause of problems... Please your input is needed

Thank you

if the car is properly maintained, it will run for over 150k no problem. it's a damn strong car. the engine is the same on the supra, you can imagine from there

I just bought my GS300 from the used lexus dealership. had 75000 miles and i have no complaints. The AC is awesome, the features solidified my conversion from sports cars to luxury cars. The GS300 is by far a smoother ride than any of my friend's other cars; sc300, is300, buick park avenue, nissan maxima, toyota celica, bmw 330i, and the list goes on! Lexus all the way!

Default That's nothing

I wouldn't hestitate to buy that car. 71k isn't that many miles especially for what type of car your about to get. You could even get them to come down on the price, I would try 17k, But the GS300 is the best car I have ever owned hands down. Very Reliable and safe.

77k is still young compared to other elderlys out there. Mine has 106k, still smooth as ever!!! AC works better than my friggin 2001 S-500 (POS). If the car wasn't abused/neglected, you should be fine. Either way, if you want peace of mind, have a personal mechanic check it out. Good luck.

71k is barely breaking the car in. If checking out a car is not your forte, you might want to get a reputable used car inspection service to check the car throughly using electronic meters etc.. It's well worth the money. I think they charge about $100.

The GS is a very fun to drive. I wish I can say that on my ES.

There is a member here with over 200K miles on his '98 GS. He says everything in the GS is still running in top-shape. I think his CL handle is "morris".

The GS300 is a very smooth, quiet, and high-quality car.

Test drive the car and you will understand.

Also 70K is not a lot of miles. I used to have a 1996 Corolla with 80K miles and it was still in perfect condition. A 70K Lexus is still a young child who is still growing.

Judging on my neighbor's cars, I would rather get a 71k miles GS than a brand new BMW 7 series. Sure the brand new BMW is under warranty and looks very nice, but they don't get a chance to drive it often because it's always breaking down. To make matters worse, the loaner that they got also broke down.
