I've had my '99 GS300 for about 6 months now, but it's not been easy.
I had 2 keys when I bought the car, one day when starting it, a key broke in my hand. I took it to Lexus, I have an extended warranty (not Lexus warranty but another company) but apparently it isn't covered.
Also when I was putting that key in the ignition I had to keep putting it in, because it wasn't getting the signal correctly, I wasn't forcing it, but it broke anyway and keys aren't cheap. This ignition problem is continuing to happen, and it happened with BOTH keys. I am able to start it, though it takes a few tries sometimes.
I had planned to take it to Lexus to get it fixed this Monday, but another thing happened to me yesterday. I was at the post office, I turned the car off, got out of the car, key and all, but the engine was still making noise!! It sounded like it was still cranking around about 15 times after I got out of the car, I went to sit back down and it stopped. I was able to drive it to work, but it freaked me out
Is there anything serious I need to check for right now?
Do you know that sometimes you have to turn the steering wheel to allow the key to turn. Not doing that would definately result in damaged keys if you are forcing them without turning the steering wheel.
I hope that your problem with broken keys is as easy as this.

The key turning wasn't the problem, I know that turning the steering wheel frees that up, but that wasn't the problem. The key would turn, everything goes on except the engine, which seems to be the chip in the key/ignition not allowing it to start. Once I do get it to start there's no problems with anything, so I don't believe the battery is an issue
Thats a scary problem you have about the engine still cranking with the key out of the ignition. If nobody can find out how to solve it, I would take it to an excorsist.
