Swapping locks
Hey guys! Need some help. So I have a 97 aristo n/a with 1 key. I’ve found someone locally that can maybe cut and program a key for me. Not sure yet. But I also own a 2001 gs300 and I have all the keys for it. I think 3. Can I switch the locks and ignition and ecu from the gs300 to the aristo? Car should start no problem.
I’m also going to Osaka in may. I was gonna take picture of my reg and title for proof of owner ship and see if the Toyota dealers there can cut me a key. Hopefully.

Hello,
The thing is that JDM cars of that era never really came with Immobilizer system, even if their US counterparts did, hence there is no programming to be done with a new key, and no need to mess with the ECU, any more or less qualified Locksmith in the area should have a TOY48 blank for your Aristo, all you need is to make a copy of your existing key and see if it starts. Post a picture of the key housing you have, if it is slim and narrow, you don't have any chip in the key.

I picked up this Lexus key also to see if I can try and can get it cut.they couldn’t cut me one so I just bought it. I’m going to Japan in a couple days and was gonna bring my aristo key and see if the Toyota dealers can make a copy of it. I emailed a lot of locksmiths in my area and they never got back to me for awhile so yah. Kinda stuck in a pickle. Put here’s the pics
