Default New key

So I got my gs from my grandparents and they have the original key which was broken and they went to Lexus and they didint have the original key but gave them a similar one. I don’t know how to use it. Apparently the original keys have a trunk button unlock and lock button. Mine has a trunk and panic button and another button that unlocks it just never locks and I have to lock the car manually. Anyone know how to do it?
thanks.

The panic button is your lock button. Press it to lock the doors, hold it for the car alarm.

so I tried that and I hear it try to lock but the locks don’t flip. It’s just makes the sound. Sometimes when I lock it from the button inside the car on door it locks the driver and sometimes the passenger or a back door. Random. So is my door locks broken? even when they do flip it looks slow or not fully flipped.

The door lock actuators are failing/failed. Quite a common problem in this generation of GS as they age. Look on YouTube about their replacement. Purchase the parts and choose a good day to do the job. Don't go to a car shop or Lexus dealer for this as they will try to rip you off.

definitely door lock actuator. On my 2001 gs 300, 3 of them went out and i bought a set of 4 on ebay for $30. Took about 2 and a half hours to fix. Just be patient with it so you don’t break anything else in the process.

Panic button is the lock button, change the battery 1st, it's easy, arrow button is the unlock button.

Another vote for bad actuators. I had the same problem with my 01, 3 bad actuators. I ended up replacing the motors in them but that's a little bit more involved than just swapping the actuators.
