Mercedes EQS flagship
I wouldn't take what they say as gospel. Mercedes updates those Dealer Ordering Guides many times over so driving.ca may be pulling their info from a document that's not in final form. I would find it extremely odd for auto climate control not to be included.
^^^ sounds a bit odd... wondering if the article got it wrong. u.s. seems very straightforward.

All that hoopla about range and the car only does 340-350 miles according to the EPA. That's almost 150 miles less than the WLTP estimate.
Mercedes EQS Beats German Competitors on EV Range but Not Tesla, Lucid
Makes the Civic body shape all that more laughable.350 miles (340 in the 580) of range is okay, if the car looked good. If this was the W223 S Class that got 350 miles of range I would have a deposit on it.
Think of this like buying a Prius that gets 35 MPG. 35 MPG is pretty good right? Why would you want a Prius that gets 35 MPG when you can have better cars that get the same or better MPG?
After watching a lot of reviews this car frustrates me even more, because I know I would LOVE how it drives. Its 100% perfect for me based on the descriptions, but I would never even consider one because of how it looks. Oh well.

This thing has a bigger battery than any Tesla yet has worse range than a Model X, nevermind an S.
In other words the 0.2 COD for the EQS was a complete waste considering how it looks and the range it gets.
Because of the tremendous tradeoff in styling they took in the name of "aerodynamics" which didn't benefit them at all when it comes to range. Tesla Model S is a much better looking car, less aerodynamic and considerably more range.

Putting aside your opinions on styling. The EQS weighs more than a Model S. And apparently Tesla games their numbers. The Secret Adjustment Factor Tesla Uses to Get Its Big EPA Range Numbers
Tesla's EPA numbers are based on city/highway mix and you won't get 400 miles unless you do 60mph consistently without heavy acceleration. Most real life driving scenarios will get that 400 mile Tesla down to about 325 miles on a normal basis. If the EQS is conservative with that range figure (which I suspect it is), I bet its similar to the Model S in real life.
Its interesting that Mercedes is speccing the car with low hp figures. The EQS 580 only makes 515hp with dual motors and their AMG only gets about 100-150hp more. They are actually toeing the line with their ICE counterparts which is unfortunate. In that class of car, a standard Model S is producing about 700hp and Lucid's dual motor base edition has 600hp.
I've seen the Youtube reviews and everyone seems to love the drive though. Almost everyone has commented that it feels much better than the S Class commenting that the V8 just can't match the EV drivetrain. The electric motors makes the car extremely serene and even more luxurious. Hopefully, they make the exterior a bit more attractive in their next generation. I think since its their 1st generation EV, they had a hard time with styling vs. aerodynamics at that extreme level so things will get better from here on out. Overall, the car is a fantastic luxury car and its looking great for EVs overall with this car's introduction.
