sure i might, it probably looks better for one thing.

no idea what you're talking about by 'personally invested'. i have mad respect for mercedes benz, and i'm very impressed by what they're doing with the EQ line (heck i really liked the EQC but its range numbers weren't good enough for it to come to the u.s.). i have mad respect for porsche and audi too, and i love the Taycan and eTron GT. are any of these perfect, no? but there's no "personal investment" specifically in mercedes new electric vehicles, i'm just an enthusiast and like what i like, or i'm impressed by something even if it's not something i would buy.

you seem to think that unless i agree with you, i'm not being objective, lol.

so no, i don't think AMG has to be the fastest thing on the road, and i don't think they ever have been.

final thought, the german brands often under 'claim' their vehicles, and real world tests are even faster, as opposed to tesla, which does the opposite. has ANY test shown 1.99 0-60 is possible on a plaid without make excuses about the track, or weather, or whatever?
Yes...people have done less than 2s on a VHT prepped drag strip (go to the Tesla forums and people post their drag times...the Plaid has been very popular to drag). But on a normal street surface, you will get about 2.05s with a rollout or 2.2s without rollout under ideal circumstances. Also, Tesla claims 3.1s for the Model 3 Performance but people have gotten under 3s (all verified with Draggys or drag strip time slips) so Tesla's numbers are achievable. The Japanese and American cars advertise what they get...the Germans tend to underpromise and over deliver. In the end, the claims don't matter at all. The Plaid at 2-2.1 seconds with rollout still annihilates everything except the Nevera which isn't even out yet (and costs $2.5M). BTW, the regular long-range Model S has been exceeding Tesla's claimed numbers too. And just to spite you, Edmunds did a range test on the new Plaid it it got within 3 miles of the EPA range

there is no other way around it, EQS is slow.

Thats it... EQS 53 AMG is also slow, and EQS 63 AMG will be slow too.

Bar has been raised, people cant pretend it is not what it is today.

Its not that at all, its that for some reason you seem to react really defensively to people who have negative reactions to this specific car..I'm not the only one who has noticed that either. Just not sure why that is...

just because i like the EQS and apparently everyone else here does not, is not the same as me being defensive, but of course you're entitled to think what you want... just to be clear, i don't care AT ALL if the EQ models are a total bomb in the marketplace, there's plenty of great cars out there.

Honestly, I would buy an EQS over an S Class if it were my money as the looks aren't great but the rest of the package is more appealing to me. Also, if Mercedes gets feedback that the looks are an issue, they will revise and it will just get better from here on out.

I like the package a lot, but at the amount of money we're talking about I just wouldn't be able to get past the looks.

Agreed. It may not be slow compared to an ICE car, but it certainly is slow for an EV at that price point.

Judged by different metrics, I agree.

In the EQS580 that doesnt bother me, I will take a 4 second 0-60 and great range, but an AMG variant needs to be really fast, because absent the rawness and the edge of an ICE AMG, speed is all thats left to thrill.

The EQS AMGs will come with tons of different sound tracks to emulate their ICE cousins. You won't miss the rawness 🙂

Whelp. At least the big girl is priced to sell. The EQS450+ will start at $102,310 vs. the S500 which starts at $109,800.

I think the EQS will be the litmus test if there is a demand for an EV over an ICE at the these prices compared to the S class. Adoption won’t be great IMO.

Pricing is indeed quite good.

I think the controversial styling will keep it from being a true litmus test of that. There are certainly many consumers who would choose an EQS over an S Class but wont specifically because of the styling. I'm one of those consumers and MBWorld is full of them.
