Exactly, it gives it a reason to exist.

Do you think if they gave it a hybrid option like the upcoming ES, one of the two would suffer?

There is no reason to because the Grand Highlander is a hybrid.

The new Highlander is basically an EV GH.

The RAV4 basically replaced the ICE Highlander and there's no reason to have 2 similar sized vehicles in the lineup.

The Rav 4 is 181 inches long, the 2 row Highlander was 184 inches long.

GH is 201 inches long, new Highlander EV is 199 inches long. No reason to have an ICE Highlander when the GH exists.

Maybe have similar affect according to CCN

I personally like the new Highlander.

As of couple weeks ago person who works at my dentist office is holding on to her 375k mile trouble free 5th gen 4Runner instead of trading for the 6th gen 4cylinder 4Runner. I mentioned to her early last year try to find a leftover 5th gen 4Runner if she wasn’t interested in the new 4Runner.
one of the few times where i disagree with his takes for the reasons many stated here. The gh already exists for those who want gas/ hybrid. And using the highlander name is a great way to bring evs mainstream and it signals that this is toyotas attempt of taking evs seriously.
