Oh yeah, I had 5 recalls where I had to take it to the dealership. Other than that, it was a great car

Quote: If I'm forced to get an EV, this would be at the top of my list. 320 range is avg and the 5 min charge from 10% to 80% isn't too terrible. A Rivian would be the 2nd option.
I think Toyota will be doing 0% financing and special leases in no time.
Look how badly Honda missed on their EV.

Also 3row EV is not best place to start.
They should have offered EV Rav4 for $40k as that seems to be the biggest market.

I just don’t see many 3row suvs being successful EVs

So that's the thing. Sometimes you can't hit those speeds without very specific chargers, and sometimes the chargers that should deliver the fastest speeds don't. Case in point, someone tried to do a comparison between my truck and a Silverado EV at a Tesla V4 charger where the Silverado should, based on specs, have charged much faster. It didn't. Whether that was due to the truck or the charger wasn't clear but also moot.

You also need to remember that peak charge isn't the same as sustained charge and overall curve. And that 20% to 80% can mean very different things depending upon battery size.

That all sounds great to me.

The EV9, Ioniq 9, Rivian R1S, all pretty successful.

Highlander EV charging time is just fine nothing wrong with it.

Quote: There's another new cost cutting trend incoming.. I can already hear the marketing speak "oh but it's more aero friendly, most aerodynamic SUVs!".....

What I'm talking about is the new window-trim integrated electronic door handles which the Ford Mach E from 2021 uses... The new Volvo EX60 has this door handle. The upcoming new-gen BMW X5/iX5, X7/iX7, and Audi Q7 and Q9 are all going to feature this new door handle style too if you check out the spy shots.

Guess they are saving significant cost in the door manufacturing process as they don't need a secondary process to stamp/press in the door for the door handles.

Thank god someone else here realizes how much cheaper it is to just cut a hole in a simplistic smooth panel vs a handle pocket!

Now perhaps others will realize how much money that and plastic side/rear cladding vs complex and difficult metal line/seams saves the carmakers....

THey have a RAV4 sized EV called the BZ and whatever the Lexus version is called (I cant be bothered to remember). Then the new CHR EV. They covered all the relevant size segments with these 3 vehicles. Now it is just a matter of time and play the long game.

I have not seen even one EV9 or Ioniq9 on the road.
There are some Rivians around but company is on brink of bankruptcy and hoping the smaller/cheaper R2 can save them.

These 3 row SUVs have much more market add EV to the mix and its even smaller. That’s why i said, the better route would have been Rav4 EV.

Rivian's financials have improved substantially they just might make it. This is a sensible strategic gamble from Toyota they already have a pile of SUVs the company can afford Highlander EV not doing well.

I see a lot of them around here. Tons of Rivians and I see several EV9s and am starting to see Ioniq 9s. As was said they already have a Rav 4 sized EV.

Rivian isn’t going anywhere.

I think this Highlander will do very well.

The Honda Ev was a rebadged 5 seat Chevy Blazer. This is a new effort from the ground up and seems to be a spacious 7 seater.

Pricing will be crucial with no EV credits.

Gosh those ugly Honda EVs were everywhere where I live when the 7.5 incentive was still here. Honda was practically giving them away on leases

You are correct. I browse car groups on FB and the Prolouge and ZDX groups are filled with people who had zero idea they were GM products. It was kind of wild to see that people just buy Honda badges no matter what. Issues galore but the price of entry or lease deals were incredible. 15k off, $299 a month, zero down etc etc. I totally understand giving it a chance when the pricing was very attractive for 60-70k msrp vehicles.
