Along a similar subject, do you know anyone that has done something like this for soundproofing. I just ran across it randomly. My car is so quiet already that I thought the previous owner might have already done it, but he didn't. I might try it just to see how quiet I could make it unless there is some downside that I'm not considering. Can always remove if there is something I don't like. Several kits out there, some at a much better price.
I've installed one of these types of kits - I just got auto weather stripping off Amazon and installed it on the doors.
I have some more for the hatchback but haven't installed it yet .
I don't think there's any downside. Did it make a difference? Yes a bit, but it's because I'm **** about stuff like this. Most people wouldn't notice any difference. On your S that already has double pane glass, you may not notice that much difference.
I suggest getting some of it off Amazon instead as it's pretty generic rather than this expensive kit.
Thanks. Might give it a try with the cheaper kits. I'm the same way about noise in a car. I literally bailed on my 460L after less than a year because of the ticking from the direct injection. I'm a little concerned about how it will look with the doors open, but since my car is black, I think it will probably not even be noticeable.
I'm betting that's from people opening the door using the manual latch instead of the button, which doesn't lower the window, which can cause damage to the weather stripping. A couple of weeks ago a couple of us went to lunch, and my passenger opened the door using the emergency latch twice. I had to tell him to use the button or he would damage the weather stripping
That makes sense, whenever my dad get out of my car he’s always looking around for the handle to open the door and I keep telling him the button but he can never understand what I am saying and finds the manual latch instead. I just shake my head.

At this point my Y is pretty quiet, I do get a little bit of tire noise when I hit a rough patch of road, but it's not that bad. Wind noises are minimal, like you I have double pane glass.
I may consider this a few years down the road if the weather stripping ever gets damaged

Haha it's literally a button in plain sight 😂 Imagine over 30k miles many people forcing the door open, it loosens the weather stripping. Also when you use the emergency latch, it makes that annoying warning sound and displays a warning on the screen

Yesterday my Model Y was updated to the latest FSD, and man is there a noticeable improvement. Not only was it driving more naturally, but not once in several drives did it nag me to touch the steering wheel. They also added a new setting, Automatic set speed offset:
Basically what it does is set speeds based on traffic flow, as well as road conditions. And it does it in a more natural way, like a person would.
Didn't get a chance to use Summons yet. I tried it at my brother in laws house, but it doesn't work on public roads, so I'll try it next time I'm in a parking lot
I could do this with my Y as well if I put down the back seats, but than I have to deal with stacking everything properly so it fits....and the bloody mess 😞.
The 3.5L is still smooth and quiet, and still sounds good when you put your foot down. No way I would replace this with the new Sienna, which is basically a four cylinder Camry hybrid with a minivan body. I drove one last year, and no thanks, not for me, so I'm holding on to my old pal for now

When you put the rear seats down, kind of The next best thing is my wife's nephew's Rivian, which is a quad motor with the Max pack
It probably has more room than my Sienna, with a giant tunnel near the rear bed, as well as a giant frunk. Off the line, this thing is a monster with about 1,050 hp
New quads are going to have a new teal badging including a spelled out QUAD one on the back. The tri-motor which is shipping now will maintain the yellow badging as speed is about the same as the old quad
