Whoops, Rivian messed up an OTA. Made it essentially impossible to complete the install and bricked a bunch of screens as a result. Trucks still drive though. I did not get the update notification thankfully

I hope my buddy with the R1S didn't get it. His truck was at the Rivian shop for 4 weeks and he just got it back Saturday. His issue was the truck would never "sleep" or turn off. Something was wrong in the sensor of the driver seat that even when he was out of the truck it still sensed someone sitting in the driver seat. He said they couldn't just replace the sensor, they had to order an entirely new driver seat... Apparently the sensor is literally embedded somewhere in there. Weird if it's an issue that they wouldn't consider having that get over-ridden by absence of a bluetooth connection (driver's phone gets far enough away from the truck that it knows the driver isn't in the car).
That's really unfortunate. Hopefully an easy fix for customers. Mind you, anyone who works in software development will tell you that no matter how well you think you've tested your build you can a) be sure that it's never enough and b) that there will always be something that didn't show up at all in testing, but does the minute your release is pushed out to your end users... It's the nature of the beast.

That's the downside of OTA updates.... one mistake in code can ruin your day. Last year Polestar had to release 3 separate updates to fix one bad one.... although it was not nearly this bad.
I'm surprised with all the updates Tesla releases they haven't bricked any cars yet. Oh, did I just jinx myself 😧
Blame away 😂. I currently have 38.6, I'm guessing .8 is on it's way!
Well, this morning neither my wife's or my phone worked as a key. They both showed connected, but the only way to get in was by unlocking in the GUI. We had to use one of the cards for the first time. I guess I'll try a soft reset later today.
