model y p looks better and has adaptive suspension but as far as its blistering speed, that just doesn’t interest me. an awd (dual motor) is still PLENTY fast.
since i’m into ride comfort and range i got rwd with 19s. lot cheaper too.
still looks good to me.
i leased this (3 yrs) and i could see me buying at lease end (only 29k!).
hyundai goes back in a year… likely won’t be replaced.
Yeah, def trade offs for me. I like the more sporty touches cosmetically on the Performance and I like the faster acceleration. But... I need to drive one first. The new Y I drove was a SUBSTANTIAL improvement in ride quality compared to my Performance. If the new Performance rides like mine, I would either choose a Premium AWD Y or a 2 year old S instead. I'm looking for all of the upgrades (like ventilated seats, rear screen, ambient lighting, etc) but really want improved road noise and ride quality the most. I have to test drive a new MYP to see how it rides.

jr - from watching reviews, respectfully i think the new y perf will ride substantially better and quieter than yours.
It would be hard for it not to..! I was really impressed by the Juniper Y I test drove. It was really a substantial improvement and made me appreciate Tesla's advancements as a car manufacturer.
As someone who owned an LS 400, LS 430, LS460L, GX, and LX... I don't expect Lexus ride quality. I just want it to ride better than my 21 MYP!
learned of another GREAT convenience feature today…
my garage is rather tight for 3 cars so i manually fold in the mirrors before driving in and unfold them after i pull back out. well… no more!
when you’ve folder the mirrors in you can press an option (i think it’s) called save location.
now as i approach the garage the care AUTOMATICALLY folds in the mirror, and when i back out, it AUTOMATICALLY unfolds the mirrors. such a simple thing but a wonderful thoughtful touch!
i just realize more and more how dumb other cars are, lol.

You can have that set for your homelink as well when you get that installed. On S model, I believe you can have your air suspension lift at a certain saved location too, like entering your driveway.

i thought that was the case… so def. looking forward to the car automatically opening my gate and garage when i get home!
I personally wouldn't use the automatic garage door opening feature. My house has one door for both garage spaces and we are always coming and going, I actually did one time trigger the garage door on top of the Pacifica while my wife was pulling out of the garage lol
Only if something is crossing the beam, the time it happened she was half out of the garage and the beam wasn't broken by anything. The van is so close to the top of the door it hit the roof before it reversed. So now I wait until I can see the door before I open it.
Obviously a very specific to me issue, that feature is very cool.

Yes, this is the "geo fence" location setting feature. I also use it for the mirrors (same reason as you - narrow garage door opening) and I also use the geo fence feature for specific rail road crossings that are really rough and certain insanely high speed bumps and my car automatically raises when I get to them. It's awesome!👍

Yeah things like this are cool. Another random but "intelligent" feature Tesla has that I am surprised I haven't seen before is the activation of AC or heat depending on who is in the car. If only the driver, that's the only vent that is activated. Someone gets into the passenger seat, that becomes activated. No rear air unless there is someone/multiple people in the back.
Maybe this is present on other cars but I have personally not seen it.

didn’t know it did that… nice. i was actually looking to see how to turn off the passenger side vents. my ioniq has ‘driver only’ mode but that must be manually engaged/disengaged. i did notice on the tesla that even though i was the only person in the car, the animation for air coming out of the passenger vent it still present so i thought air was still coming of that side.

If no one is sitting in the passenger side, the vents are turned off. Also, the passenger can turn off the vents by holding their finger on the vent setting for a few seconds
so i have 1 level 2 charger in my garage, and now 3 EVs! it sits in the column between the gv60 and ioniq5 and works well to charge those two. the tesla y is on the far side and the cable would need to be behind the gv60 to charge the y. cable is plenty long enough by the way (thanks chargepoint). not an issue about being in the way of the gv60 leaving as i don't drive the y much and the couple of times i've charged it, the gv60 was out. today i had an idea... use the included level 1 charger for the y as kind of a trickle charger i plugged it in mid day at 64% knowing it would take a long time to get to 80%. it went to 12A right away and predicted it would take 9 or so hours. sure enough, it's now at 79% and has stopped which is great.
onward
