Why, just because it's a successor?! Nonsense!
I don't want to attack someone's recent hard-earned purchase, but I also prefer if recent purchasers don't unfairly attack the new model either.
Your premise that most posters in this forum are dissing the 8ES because they're defending their purchase is more nonsense. I've purchased/owned the 3ES, 4ES, and 7ES. I would like my next car to be an ES. But I have no interest in the 8ES for a variety of reasons.

The 8ES has gotten a very poor reception by ES owners and NonES owners alike. It has absolutely nothing to do with prior ownership.

Agree I am withholding judgement until I see and drive but would only want the hybrid.

For me, the loss of horsepower is a big deal. Going from 303 HP with a V6 that's smoother than a baby's ***, to a 4 banger with 244 HP in the hybrid and 224 in the electric is a big negative. One would have to step up to the 500e to get the sweet spot with 343 HP. I like having the juice when I press the accelerator in my V6... Guess I'll have to wait for the Chinese cars to arrive...
