Just out of curiosity, can I ask where you have been the past 11 years?
You just disappeared from thin air, so I actually thought you had passed away.

Going further... Why would someone who owns a 2019 ES go and buy a 2026 ES? LOL...

It is the older 6ES, 5ES, 4ES etc, or other buyers who are more likely to trade-in for 8ES.
As opposed to the immediate 7ES predecessors.

I think the 8ES will probably sell like the Crown. that is, 1 per state, if lucky. it's too weird/odd/niche/underperforming/under spec'd when you have plenty of lexus crossovers/suvs to choose from. i just dont see who is buying this car in enough #s to mean anything for the business.

Yes.
Theoretically, you are right.

However, in practise, it takes time for consumers to realize that most people don't need superfast charging, nor extensive range.
Most consumers don't need 0-60 in 5.0, nor RWD, nor front double wishbone suspension to maximize grip - either for that matter!

New 8ES is supposed to charge faster, have more range and be more reasonably priced than RZ.
Sure, 8ES' charging and range is still not up to Model Y.
8ES does not have Model Y's 0-60 5.3 seconds, nor RWD, nor front double wishbone suspension to maximize grip either.

My friend just purchased Model Y Refreshed AWD, and he says the ride is still too sports firm!
There are plenty of people out there who want an attractive looking, spacious, comfortable and reliable car.
They don't need super-fast charging, long range, nor 0-60 in 5.0, nor RWD, nor double wishbone suspension.

If you think 8ES interior is bad - wait till you see Model Y's.
They say the entry level ES350e has noticeably more range than the entry level Model Y RWD.
However, the Model Y base is still quicker 0-60.

Model Y vs 8ES - I know which way I'd rather go.
It's horses for courses - each to their own.
What is great for Jack - could be terrible for Jill.
Choose whatever best fits your individual needs & wants.

Let's give 8ES a go and see how it sells...

You and I aren't supposed to see it.

It's not designed to appeal to us. It's being offered here as an afterthought, since there aren't enough of us left here to matter.

This car was designed for China, which now buys over twice as many ES's as we do. If it succeeds there, Lexus will see it as a success.

Moving the production to Japan was a sign that they don’t care about the NA market.

It'll be interesting to see how well it sells in China.

I watched a youtube video on Chinese cars. Some had over 1000 HP and most had a 400 mile range. Some had over a 600 mile range. Prices ranged from 20k to 180k for the top of the line executive sedan. Most sold for middle prices in the 40k to 60k range. All were superbly equipped with tech options. The new Lexus EV apparently has a 276 mile range on a full charge.

We're on the same wavelength. I expect it wont sell well in the US, China, or anywhere else. If it sells well in China, it will be based on cache, not specs.

Sedan sales are way down however Ford possibly sees a niche and is thinking of bringing the Mondeo platform to USA. What do I know but I think killing their large sedans was a mistake. But as long as big profit SUV’s keep flowing out the door……..

I think +4" sedans are just right, easier entry/exit, and underfloor space to house the 4" battery pack.
SUV's are a bit too high and we must slightly climb up into them.

7ES is too low and passe.
Despite its longer wheelbase, 7ES had less cubic feet than previous generations of Camries below.

ES350e FWD has 300 miles of range.
The AWD version with larger alloy wheels has slightly less range.
Simple cheap FWD and simple cheap single lower link MacPherson strut front suspension is what the ES has been all about since 1989.

Despite how predecessors feel about justifying their recent purchase, the new models/successors are invariably superior!
I don't want to attack someone's recent hard-earned purchase, but I also prefer if recent purchasers don't unfairly attack the new model either.

I don't believe the new ES is "invariably superior" than the previous gen.
Different, hell yeah!
Invariably superior to '25?
