I hate this new combined 7/8 gen thread

Enough said.

Ditto and likewise.

Hopefully Toyota cancels the new ES.
We know there was a gun pointed at the heads of car manufacturers to make EVs. That gun has been repealed.

I hope that Toyota see that car manufacturers all lost money in every EV produced but Tesla and they change their mind.

I'm not an EV fan and considering the abysmal Lexus RZ, I would no way in hell buy an EV ES. If I want an EV I'll buy a Tesla, the gold standard of EVs.

It is a tough one.
I wouldn't know what to do myself.

Moderators probably trying to increase exposure to 8ES.
However, 7ES owners who recently purchased their 7ES are least likely to appreciate the 8ES.
7ES owners must justify their recent costly purchase.

Hence, long term, it is probably best for 8ES to have its own section as sales picks up...

Just have to chime in and say that I agree- this is absolutely insane in the membrane as my old man would say. I can't imagine that there is much mechanical or demographical overlap between the two generations, so I have no idea why who clicked what to make this happen.

The fellow who was instrumental in combining the 1st to 6th gens said that he would begin the process of rolling the changes back, and then this happened less than 48 hours after.

I have long admired this site and its more helpful members since I started off as an impecunious undergrad in a clapped out 2001 ES300, so I am acutely disappointed in the trend of shenanigans and disorder.

Either someone has impulsive fat fingers, or we are being expertly trolled.

I think they will separate them soon.

Isnt there an 8th gen forum on here already?

EDIT: nvm, dont see it anymore. Could swear there was one!

why would moderators want to "increase exposure to the new ES" is it their job to promote sales? but yeah it is silly combined.. are other cars combined or does 8es have the lowest interest in history out of any model?

They combined gen 1 through 6 forums. I don't think there was much thought in combining the 7th and 8th. They just don't seem to think people really care about any gen ES, or it's just pure laziness. It's easier to manage 2 forums than 8.

Remember these forums are FOR profits and will be influenced by $.

Combining gen 1 through 6 forums is ok because otherwise, those sub forums are dead, no visitors, no profits.

Combining the 7th and 8h makes no sense for now, unless Toyota paid them to do it, I hope they will break them out later when gen 8 cars start selling, just leave gen 7th sub alone until 2030 then combine it with the last 6 to be 1 - 7 :D

Tootsall Mar 26, 2026 09:40 AM

I would rather see Gen 1-5 combined, then Gen 6 & 7 together, with Gen 8 & up completely separate.

Recent costly purchase. What does that even mean?

The justification is the purchase of a comfortable, quiet, reliable vehicle. The price is just the price. Nobody is coerced into buying a car.

Jeaco Mar 26, 2026 07:03 PM

I think at this point, there probably are not alot for the new thead. The new car is not even availalbe where I live, yet.

We will separate them again shortly

Why would someone who has just recently purchased a brand new 7ES - go out and trade-in for a brand new 8ES?
