Android auto 2019 ES350
I had heard (not confirmed) that dealerships can add hardware to allow for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in older models. I had the same issue in my current ride, Acura TLX, and added a unit called GROM Vline2. I know they have units that support older Lexus models, but not sure about the models within the last 5yrs.
Lexus added Apple Carplay to the 2019 MY but not Android Auto. In other countries such as Spain and Australia, AA could be programmed into existing vehicles. Lexus, in their great wisdom, decided to not offer an upgrade to U.S. owners. So at this point the only alternative is an aftermarket system.
FYI - there is a very long previous thread regarding this subject which you could locate by doing a search...

Apple is the good standard both in the USA and in Europe and also in the rest of the world. Android is popular too, but a lot more people own Apple than Android. 9 out of 10 phones that people own are Apple iPhones.

I haven't checked recently but I thought Apple vs. Android market shares in the were pretty close to each other in the U.S. and worldwide Android is dominate in market share vs. Apple. Maybe things have changed.

Who knows what’s happened. Maybe things have changed. But even if things have changed, I still see 9 out of 10 people everywhere I go with an iPhone.
According to Statcounter Android has 72.2% of global market while iOS is at 26.99%. However in the U.S market iOS has 59.17% while Android at 40.5%.

Yes! This matches my understanding as well. I don’t see it as good news or bad news however. Both OSs are very good and I have no reason to favor one over the other. Each has its pros and cons.
Both do the job, but iOS compared is extremely stable, extremely polished, extremely refined, extremely predictable.
I tried the latest greatest Android device and firmware a few months ago side by side my 13 Pro long term and switched for a few weeks and when I swtiched back I was like wow. new appreciation for iOS. Yep I can do a few more things w/ Android but it was unstable and got in my way. Very unpredictable too. Also the hardware (latest iteration of Samsung Galaxy) had cool hardware features but they seemed rushed and quirky and unreliable. Such as the hardware/touch/face unlock. Very erratic. Apple? Supremely supremely polished with impeccable and consistent timing. Just the nature of Apple products are extremely highly and deliberately tuned to give a sense of predictability and reliability. The tiny tiny tiny details of how Apple executes its core functions is very apparent once you start using it after you've used Android.

I still think Android is fun and I enjoy using it's cool nerdy neat features and lets face it, more exciting/fun hardware and screens.
But when old/adult me just needs my phone to work and NOT get in my way requiring me to jerk it off, I choose Apple. Just works.
