Default Dynamic Voice Recognition

I tried searching for this so sorry if previously discussed....

Does the Dynamic Voice Recognition use up personal cell data? If so, and you're running high on data usage, can you just enable the basic Standard voice recognition?

I never personally had problems (ok once in a while) with my old fashioned 2007 ES voice recognition. So not sure if I even need it.

Not sure what you mean with "Dynamic" voice recognition. I only have one option for Lexus voice recognition, which understands 80% off the times now compared to the 2% on my 2016RX.

I still use Siri or Google Assistant when connected to a phone, since that it still FAR superior to the" improved" Lexus voice recognition.

Overall, voice recognition uses minimal data.

Toyotaman7- so is it necessary that you have a cellular connection on your phone in order to use your voice recognition? If so I think that is what LEXUS considers dynamic voice recognition which is free for the first 10 years of ownership.

I think you obviously need a phone connected to have the voice rec perform phone functions (i.e. TEXT JOE SMITH, CALL JOHN DOE), but I don't think you need it to as an example PLAY XM17, FIND ADDRESS, etc.

But why then do I see the cloud icon spinning when making commands? And why a 10 yr subscription expiration? I will test out later with my phone powered down.

OK I tested this out with my phone powered down. Works a charm! So the car itself must be receiving cellular signals which Lexus covers the cost of for 10 yrs. If anyone has anything to correct or add please do.

According to Lexus USA website it uses the cars integrated cellular system. When it is in use there is a cloud logo next to the spinning circle.

I guess the Canadian cars do not have it. No mention on the website and mine does not display the cloud logo when i use the voice assistant.

Yes Dynamic voice command uses the same DCM that Safety Connect, Destination Assist, Dynamic navigation, etc. use. As long as you have some service (including service connect free for 10 years) dynamic voice is available.
