Default Voice Recognition

Is the 06 Voice recognition much different than the 07? I know the Nav is different but... are the voice commands...bluetooth...etc, different?

There's voice recognition feature in the GS??!

Seriously though, it's been a year since I had my 2007 GS450h, and I've pretty much forgotten that there's voice recognition in this car. The reason is that it's so bad that I consider it to be completely unusable. After you had the car for a couple of months, you will forget it's there too...

I agree... It's easier to use my finger.. and more accurate. I was mostly wondering about the phone features...dial by number...etc. In the ES loaner I'm using...the voice recognition for dial by number is actually pretty impressive. I haven't tried the commands on my GS yet (mostly because it's in the shop and I can't get to it..) but I was just wondering if they'd changed with the new upgrade to the Nav.

I use voice commands and think it's pretty darn good. I've tried entering addresses for the NAV and it works but it's slow, so I don't use that much. But I use "Call Home" or "Go Home" and things like that and it works great.

Can you shut off the prompt? That is the part I don't like having to wait for her to stop talking.

I know how to shut off most of prompts EXCEPT the Bluetooth prompts. How do you do them?

But can anyone do the "Call Home" with the 06? or is that an 07 feature?

In my SHORT experience the Voice commands work fine BUT you have to realize as expected that it ONLY responds to the FEW words it knows

find and print the PDF files that list the allowed commands and use them

It CANT interpret or recognize any variation of those words or synonyms or anything else

When I say the words in its vocabulary and there is no noise or other complication it works over 80 % of the time

I expect that will increase as I get better with it

80% is horrible! My 2004 TL had a near-100% accuracy recognizing numbers in pretty much any condition. You're probably right about 80%, that's about how bad it was the first few weeks when I tried dial by voice. I consider it to be completely unacceptable on a 2007 model. Infiniti cars have a near-perfect recognition even for things like street and city names.

I guess I'll try one last time... are there any "06" owners who can do the 'dial by number' or say, 'call home' with their bluetooth? My GS seems to have raido, nav and climate voice controlls only. Anytime I try to use a voice command for the phone... I get nothing.
