That further validates my decision to buy an iPhone 3.5 months ago. It could be a very long wait for the AA retrofit to arrive for the 2019 ES.

I don't care anymore now that I bought an iPhone. In fact, even if they implement AA, I'll keep the iPhone because I prefer to have a dedicated phone to run Amazon Music and Google Maps. I think they should build these functions right into the info system so you don't need a phone to run them. That's probably how they'll build them in the not-too-distant future.

Even your stat of 45-45% iphone usage in countries where lexus are sold in volume means android is likely dominant in those countries, because other types of smart phones usually account for less than 1%. BTW, I would think in the US iphone has the majority as far as lexus buyers but still a decent amount use android. Also iphone is much more popular in the US than in other countries. Anyhow even if we can't nail down exactly how many lexus users use either, i think android is prevalent enough where it shouldn't be ignored by car makers of any type.
I certainly wasn’t suggesting AA should be ignored. I was simply curious about the number you stated because I had never seen one showing such a high percentage of global Android users. The chart you identified does indeed show 87% but the chart another member was kind enough to post shows 76%. This is really my point about my skepticism of statistics. There is no doubt that Android is much more prevalent globally.

Nothing has chapped my rear more lately that walking into the dealer for the 5k service on my ESh and seeing an identical 2020 ES on the sales floor with Android Auto listed. What a mistake I made not extending the 2016 Genesis lease month to month for 6 months to wait for the 2020. 😕

Don't despair; For those of you who feel as though you need AA in your car it may be added at a later date. According to previous posts it's coming to Lexus cars in Espana and also
Australia - although Lexus is charging for cars down under... Supposed to be around April of 2020... Nothing official for the U.S.A. but it might become available as an add-on by aftermarket manufacturers...

AnthonyMJ --

That's great news that Android Auto is "on the way" for 2019 owners. Can you share any details on that? An announcement published by Lexus? Until now, we've been told that Lexus has not committed to a retrofit to provide AA for 2019 ES 350 owners.

Thanks!

I haven't heard anything new regarding the 2019's and I don't think that there IS anything new... Sorry to say that AA for the 2019 MY cars has been "on the way" for months with nothing from Lexus. Just have to stand by, wait, and hope for the best...

It is listed on the window stickers of the 2020 ES models at Park Place Lexus in Plano. I believe Google demonstrated their new Android Auto functionality that uses the entire wide screen on a 2020 ES recently too.

Any ES built mid Oct 2019 or after will have it. I just bought from PP-Plano and I have AA on veh that just came in this week. Was another vehicle there that I had also considered but it was Oct 1st build and didn't come w Android Auto. Pretty much anything built Oct 15th or later you should be ok.
