I got it as a software update on my Corvette.

nice - is it all it's cracked up to be? I find the infotainment system and NAV in the car works fine for me. I guess folks love WAZE and you can run that on the big screen with Android Auto?

It definitely is, at least in the Vette. I do not use it every day, the factory system is just fine for me. I mostly use it when I will be in the car longer than 20-30 minutes and I want different music and accurate navigation. The navigation is very accurate (meaning the directions are good, directions in my Vette and the RX are shady sometimes), and the voice commands are MUCH faster. It's also awesome that it will read text messages to you and you can respond. Plus, I really enjoy having Pandora streaming as well. The Vette enhanced the experience with a touch screen, making navigating the android auto features much faster/easier to navigate.

It's so good I considered, for a very brief moment, switching back to Apple for the ES 350. Then I bought a Note 9 to replace my old Note 5 :P

The system in the ES (and RX for that matter) works perfectly for text messages, reading, dictating, popups etc. Have yiu not tried it? I get the advantage of more accurate nav but Im not using that all that often.

Yup, we use it in the RX. AA does it much better in my opinion.

Well that sounds promising. Hopefully the 2019 ES has the needed hardware for Android Auto so we can just get a software update like your Corvette.

Just curious, did you have to take your Corvette in to a dealer to get the update or could you do it yourself? Was there a cost? Lexus wouldn't necessarily be the same. I'm just curious.

Yes, about 3 1/2 hours at the dealership to get the update done. I just dropped it off and went to work, picked it up after. No cost

I saw this article about Toyota and android. Says Lexus isn't going to adopt android because "80 percent of Lexus owners own an Apple-powered device." Not sure I believe that stat...

You will note that the article said Toyota, not Lexus. Not getting my hopes up.

Lexus is Toyota. Besides, if they don't get their act together, they'll be left in the dust.

Lexus and Toyota are the same company. If you remember both Lexus and Toyota cars started getting Car Play at about the same time. Why would Android Auto be any different?

Tru dat.

If Lexus is really going after younger demographics (link to slightly old article below), they should keep up with technology (e.g. remote touch, backup camera resolution etc).
