Angry DCM Issue or App Issue?

Allright, Lexus People... I'm about to tear my hair out. I purchased my Lexus Certified 2024 ES 250 AWD in May of 2025 with a whopping 500 miles on it (the previous owner passed away...not in the vehicle, in case you were wondering). I opted for the monthly add-on services through the Lexus App (remote start/lock, navigation, etc.).

About a month after purchase, I started noticing random disconnect/re-connect of the Communication Module (regardless of being in a solid cell network) that eventually escalated into random disconnects from Bluetooth, the app and car eventually forgetting I'd already installed it, randomly forgetting the devices I've added (i.e., my phone), and eventually reverting to "Guest" mode without my having made any such selection, while also refusing to respond to the touchscreen request to re-select my Owner profile.

***UPDATE*** Apparently it *is* actually an app issue. The "Lexus Brand Engagement Center" at 1-800-255-3987 actually has a recorded message prior to accessing the phone tree that describes the issue and its negative impact on the Communication Module. Perhaps if the dealer had directed me toward this in the first place instead of saying, "There's nothing we can do," I might have been appeased by their answer. :-/

Thanks to those who replied, and Happy New Year.

This last issue prompted me to finally take it to the dealer (still under extended warranty) where they had it for two weeks and said they needed to consult with Corporate about the issue, as they didn't know what was going on. Finally, they apparently went through the diagnostic process that Corporate asked them to do, settling on a replacement of the Head Unit to address the non-functional touchscreen (mind you, the selection of "Owner vs Guest" was the only area in which the touchscreen wasn't working...it was fine everywhere else).

When I got it back, it worked fine (or seemed to) on the half hour drive home. It sat in the driveway for Christmas, and the next day when I went to drive it, it began having new issues such as dropping the Bluetooth connection after each Pandora track, forgetting who I was again and forgetting the I'd already installed the app, non-functional remote start, etc. Also, these issues would be fine for a while, become non-functional, correct themselves with no intervention from me, and then have problems again. Also, the Communication Module sometimes refused to even try to connect.

I ran it through ChatGPT (I know, I know...) and it suggested there's an issue with the DCM and outlined its logic for presenting this as being the problem. I contacted the dealer again, telling them everything I mentioned here, and they maintain there's nothing more they can do, that it *isn't* a DCM issue, and that Corporate has told them it's an issue with the app that they (Corporate) currently doesn't know how to fix.

I don't buy it. I haven't read anything anywhere else about there being an issue with the Lexus app that causes problems like this (or any issue at all, for that matter). I think they're trying to get out of replacing the DCM.

Thoughts, anyone? Is anyone else having an issue like this?

Thanks so much in advance.

When I got my new 2025 ES350 UL, I noticed that on the Lexus App that I could not remotely lock the doors from my phone...... I had a couple trips to the dealer and had contacted 'Lexus Connect' to no avail. I finally contacted the dealership Service Manager and he told me to bring it in again. The Dealership finally contacted Lexus Themselves and they had to 're-sync' my Car to the Lexus Servers. And it has worked ever since. It was a software problem and has worked flawlessly ever since. The weird thing about my problem is that I could remotely Unlock the Doors and even Remotely Start the Car. The only thing that it could not do is remotely do is Lock the doors.

I don't have an answer to your issue but wish I did... The response you're receiving seems to be a trend that Toyota is using to distance themselves from issues they can't (or won't) solve due to financial ramifications or reputational damage. Not a good sign...

Thanks so much. Your reply caused me to remember that in their first attempt, the dealer updated the software (which kinda sounds like what happened with yours), but it didn't fix the issue. :-(

Thanks so much. What's also disconcerting is that, despite this supposed app-wide issue that Lexus is supposedly unable to fix, they continue to charge me the $15/mo. membership fee. Obviously, I'll be canceling that, but it certainly would have been a better look for them to voluntarily refund the past 6 months and suspend any future payments on the basis of good faith...

This may not be the same update... Mine took a couple hours and I had to leave the car at the dealership... They called it 'Syncing the Lexus Servers' with my car...... This sounded different than updating the software.
