Angry Car having Multiple issues - Need your guidance!

Hello,

Well guys....let me start of by saying I've been a very loyal lexus customer over the years and absolutely LOVED my 2013 GS 350 awd when I bought it in march 2013.

The car has plagued me with problems from almost the beginning...I've reached out to lexus for a buyback and it looks like from the silence on their part...and being told a decision has been made by lexus customer service, but she wouldn't reveal to me the decision(said I will receive letter in 5-10business days)....but i'm fairly certain they denied my request.

Its been to the dealership more than 3 times for alignment issues. The car just wont go straight...it keeps pulling to the left. They adjusted many things....rotated tires...each time they've done an aligment its been off spec. sometimes by a wide margin They even had a "alignment specialist" look at it.....unable to fix it.

The usb drive while playing music....abruptly freezes...and the entire radio/navi unit shuts down. Its happened dozens of times(randomly occurring)...it was duplicated on the first visit by service manager and mechanic. They said we'll fix on next visit....didn't act up during that trip, mentioned a possible TSB about it...problem still not fixed or addressed.

Then eventually my car just died on me(it seems to be a known issue....with no fix). We had it towed in, dealer put in new battery. Within 2 hours of car being delivered back to my house...car dead again!! this time, I notified dealership....ultimately just jump started and fired up.

Within a week of the dead battery issue...the car keyfobs were NOT working. The car wouldn't recognize the keys, wouldn't lock or unlock the doors. The next day, I used the other keyfob, happened same exact thing. (I video taped on my cell phone as proof). Since then, its happened about 4 more times, randomly. It would eventually recognize the keyfobs after 10 minutes of waiting of hitting the buttons on keyfob 50 plus times. During this fiasco...I sat in the car and checked everything out. The sunroof wouldn't open. Eventually it opened, only if I held the button. Same wth closing...even holding it down didn't work initially. it finally closed. The outside temperature reading on dash kept showing 98degress all 30minutes of riding home. (it was about 70 degrees out). The dealership has not addressed any of these latest issues...I had notified the service manager already of these ongoing issues.

What do I do next? I sincerely thought lexus would realize how annoying/troubling this car has been to me, and offer a timely and positive solution..but it hasn't happened. Is anyone else having these issues? Am I being too picky? I certainly feel this isn't right for a new car...esp. a Lexus.

The alignment issue not really sure on that and the battery that is a known problem but I don't think they will provide a buyback based on those troubles. Sorry for the inconvenience you have had but exactly how many times have you been to the dealer as the more you bug the dealer the more likely they are to just find a way to help you, that would be my suggestion.

Wow that's a lot of problems. You should get a lemon law lawyer and they'll take care of it.

You need to check the Lemon Laws in your state. They differ in different states. If you qualify for a buy-back, and they refuse, you may need to hire an attorney that specializes in Lemon Law issues. My experience in dealing with Lexus Corporate, is that they generally won't offer any help to you at all. They leave that responsibility to the dealer. If I had one criticism of Lexus, it would be that Lexus Corporate does not stand behind the consumer at all. As far as your maintenance issues go, I would be looking for another dealer. Over the years, I have found 2 dealers that have been very weak in the maintenance department, and one that has just been outstanding. It certainly sounds like your car would qualify as a "Lemon".

Sounds like demons to me.... Like others have said, if Lexus denies your request, time for you to call up a lemon law lawyer. It'll take more than a TSB to fix those problems.

I would try another dealer. Can any lexus dealer can access past service records through the computer this way they can see what was "done" to fix these problems?

Yes, if the service was done at a Lexus dealership then we have access to see what was done

if your problems weren't fixed after 4 attempts then the lemon law takes affect. is your car completely stock?

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback so far.

I've had a great relationship with my dealership and my service manager. I think they've done a great job, or at least try everything they could on their end. It seems they don't know of/or have any possible fixes for some of these issues. I have contacted an attorney yesterday and he seemed very positive about my case.

My question is, if anyone has had a buyback from lexus...did they call you to inform of the buyback or you found out through a letter from them? They wouldn't tell me anything on the phone.

btw, the keyfob didn't work again this morning. My car is 100% stock.

Wow - you should of got a BMW

they are pros when it comes to doing buybacks for lemon cars or they give u a financial incentive by waving payments if u decide to keep it.

Good luck with the GS

Lexus may have a stellar reliability record but it's still an automaker subject to problems - like anyone else. Out of all the 2013 GS owners there's only a handful including the OP that have had issues as bad as this, so just goes to show he got one that "slipped through the cracks". It happens. Good luck with the Lemon Law, wIth the host of 2014 improvements, might as well lobby to get a 2014 model GS - a great chance you won't have the same issues

I too would try another dealer. The alignment is what concerns me. In my experience issues with being unable to align a vehicle stems from the equipment being used or the person doing the alignment.

The battery issue we've heard about. I assume you've replaced the batteries in the fobs? When the car won't recognize the fob for the keyless entry, will the unlock buttons on the fob work? Will it start the car?

For the USB drive, what type of player are you using? Have you tried using a different player?

My radio shuts off fairly frequently when playing music through the iPod. I've just learned to live with it. I've been told it is due to the loading of album art. I'm assuming no album art is loaded through a USB so it seems to be a bug in the system.

I think the car dying, the key fob not working and the whole alignment issue is pretty serious, and I would go the Lemon Law route as well. Other than the radio issue, my GS has been trouble-free for almost 12k miles. I almost expect technology glitches with all the new technology that has been loaded into these cars, but mechanical issues... no way.

Regarding the Keyfob issue. I can stand next to the car, it wont do the automatic door opening...I press the keyfob(unlock...lock...trunk) and it wont respond in anyway. The funny part is, the lil red light on the keyfob blinks. After hitting the keyfob what seems like at least 50 to 100 times, it eventually works. It has happened on BOTH keyfobs, so I know its not just one key not working.

At this point, I've lost patience to take it to another dealer and have them look at it. I will see how Lexus responds and let the lemon law attorney do his thing if it comes to that.
