Default Cabin and Engine Air Filter

How often are you guys changing your cabin and engine air filters? Maint sched says to replace it every 30k but I find that odd as I usually replace it every 10-12k miles. For those who have replaced it every 30k miles, have you noticed a huge difference?

Cabin filter I clean after six months and then replace next six months. Engine air filter 25k miles and it's just not that dirty at that point.

Take them out and look at them in the light compared to new ones. You should be able to tell if they’re still good or not.

Since both Lexus, and the filter manufacturers have a different agenda than the owner of a vehicle, you can ignore the suggested replacement schedule. They want you to replace themvas frequently as possible. So they suggest the shortest lifespan of your using it in the dirtiest environments. And the quality of the filters is going to effect their lifespan also. You should also do a visual inspection of your engine air filter every 4th oil change, and the HVAC filter once a year. You'll get to know how frequently you should replace them. Even if you completely plugged the engine air filter solid, it would hurt your performance and gas mileage but its unlikely to do any harm to the engine and a clogged cabin filter will cause the fan to struggle, but again, it won't cause any harm. So there is no reason to stress about not checking them regularly

I replace both at the beginning of the year. I average about 16k miles per year.

I replace the cabin air filter every 5000 miles, I use charcoal activated.
When we talk about the engine air filter, 30000 miles on hybrids, 20000 on ICE, but I clean both of them on every oil change (5000 miles OCI).

I replace every May after pollen season. After leaves fall first of December take both out and vacuum and blow and reinstall. The cabin air filter in December has a lot of small leaves twigs etc. Both filters I buy online $40 for both and both take five minutes to replace.

Does anyone use the charcoal cabin air filter? Is it worth the difference in price?

This is a excerpt from another thread "ES250 - Engine Air Filter & Cabin Air Filter". The following info is thanks to @MrGUD .
You can use any of these Cabin Air Filters in your Lexus ES vehicle.
Going from best to cheapest:

87139-0E040 (charcoal filter and heaviest amount made in USA )

87139-58010 (charcoal filter medium heavy but made in Japan)

87139-YZZ93 (charcoal filter light, it has the least amount of charcoal but it’s also the cheapest charcoal filter available, made in USA)

87139-0R030 (pollen filter standard number of pleats, made in USA)

87139-YZZ83 (pollen filter, has about 1/3 less pleats than the 0R030, made in USA)

Any part # with a “YZZ” is considered the value line and what that basically means is, it’s Toyotas way of competing with aftermarket auto parts store ones. They tend to be cheaper and quality is good and fitment is spot on, sometimes there is a compromise on quality like less pleats on air filter’s but overall it’s still better than most what you’d find in the aftermarket parts stores.

Every twelve to 18 months is a good time frame to replace both (dirty or not). Clean, fresh filters are better than the ones that have been in use for 12 to 18 mos. It's a expensive vehicle...maintain it and you will enjoy a trouble free experience.

Can you use any of these on the 2025 ES 300h? I don't see the 300h listed even though all the other ES are listed.
